Zines are in the mail, and tracking numbers have been delivered. Mudpit Manor belongs to you now. I hope you enjoy your time there.
I thought, at first, that this entire process was about challenging myself to try something new and honing my creative abilities. What I learned is that the real challenge is allowing yourself to be human, and fallible, and vulnerable enough to put parts of yourself on the page.
A very wise man told me, and I hope he won't mind me quoting him:
I read a memoir once, and the only thing I remember is the woman said she realized that she was "neither worm nor wonder." I think it's important to accept ourselves with the grace we would show others.
If there is anyone out there reading this who is being called to try something like this for the first time and you have doubts, please know that you are not alone. Have faith in yourself and in this community. I promise you we will have your back.
Zines are supposed to arrive from the printer on Monday 10/13. I will lock addresses soon after, and shipping will begin. There are just a handful of you out there with outstanding surveys to complete, so try to get those in!
Surveys are complete. Once your order is locked, you should get your digital copy delivered automatically. I also added a digital copy of the postcard for anyone who ordered one.
Today, I will be sending the zine off to the printer, and ordering the mailers. The next update should come in approximately 2 weeks when physical shipping begins.
I hope you enjoy Mudpit Manor. It's been nearly a year since I started it, and it has been a long labor of love.
Everything in the zine is finalized. I'm printing one more copy at home later today for a final edit, and then it's off to the printer. Digital fulfillment should begin tonight after the final pass.
Lastly, the PPPA stickers arrived and they look pretty slick:
What have you done?
First and foremost, thank you all for making Mudpit Manor a bigger success than I could have ever dreamed. The WHPA community is truly the most creative and supportive group of people I have ever encountered.
Patches are in hand and they look awesome:
The Mudpit Flats Chamber of Commerce has reached out to our newest Flats business owners who backed at the Proprietor level. If I am describing you, and you have not yet submitted your ad idea, please check your email for a welcome letter from the Chamber, sent from [email protected].
Surveys will be submitted to Backerkit for review later today, and should be ready to go out by middle of next week. Once that is done, digital copies should be available for delivery, and I will get the zine sent off to the printer. Physical fulfillment should begin approximately 3 weeks from today. -sb
