BackerKit FAQ

How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.

To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.

All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.

Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.

Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.

When will I be charged for my pledge?

Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.

What happens after the campaign is over?

The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.

The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.

Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.

Project FAQ

What scale is Port-O-Battle?

According to https://alkony.enerla.net/english/the-nexus/miniatures-nexus/miniature-hobby/miniature-size-miniature-scale#what-is-miniature-scale , Port-O-Battle is 14mm scale. That's the height from the eye level of the Imperial Trooper to his feet. Give or take 2mm based on silly cartoon proportions.

Are there stretch goals?

Yes. Depending on how well the project does during initial crowdfunding, I will unlock new pledge levels. The better the project does, the more teams, combat zones and features I will commit to working on. At the start of the project I am committed to working on 12 teams and 2 combat zones.

How long does it take to make a team?

Teams take anywhere from 1-5 weeks each. It depends on how much new material I need to make. If I have previously made the species and their weapons, it can take as little as 1 week. If I have to make whole new species and all their weapons, it can take a month or longer. As I produce more assets, new teams will take less time as I have more material to draw from. This is how it went for Port-O-Bowl. The initial teams took weeks but towards the end they took mere days (though Port-O-Battle teams are more detailed than Port-O-Bowl ones).

What is the refund policy?

Before the project's funding goal ends, simply cancel your pledge and you will never be charged. After the project ends, you can ask for a refund up to 30 days, but not if the pledge is delivered.

When can I expect pledge delivery?

The 2 team and 6 team pledge can be delivered shortly after the funding period ends (July/August 2025). Higher pledge levels will take longer based on how many teams or combat zones there are to make, and which teams were selected. I project the 12 tier 2 combat zone pledge level will be finished by the end of 2025 (November/December).

Will there be a physical option or is it digital only?

I am extremely reluctant to offer a physical option as quality control is nigh-impossible to enforce remotely. Port-O-Bowl took more than half a year to fulfill physical options as I needed to step in to produce and ship rewards myself when contractors were unable to fulfill rewards with speed and quality initially promised. This of course cut into development time for Port-O-Battle. Things could change during the campaign, but right now I am very hesitant.
