How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.
To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.
All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.
Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.
Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.
When will I be charged for my pledge?
Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.
What happens after the campaign is over?
The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.
Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.

💫 Can I pledge to the StarKid Returns campaign with PayPal?
Unfortunately, PayPal does not allow us to do this. If the campaign is successful, after it ends we will set up a BackerKit Pre-Order store where select pledge levels will be available to back after the campaign utilizing PayPal as payment.
💫 Can rewards be shipped internationally outside of the US?
Yes! Though unfortunately we don't set the shipping rates. You'll be charged for shipping after the campaign ends, closer to when the rewards are ready to get on their way to you!
💫 When will my rewards be delivered?
We’re planning on most rewards being delivered in Spring of 2023. The Nerdy Prudes Composer Demo Album, however, will likely be later, when Nerdy Prudes comes out on YouTube.
💫 When will I be charged for shipping?
After the campaign ends you will be charged the amount you pledged. You'll be charged for shipping later through your BackerKit survey. It’ll be closer to when rewards ship to ensure that it's the right amount for the rewards/add-ons you've selected!
💫 Where will you send my rewards/Can I change my address?
After the campaign ends, we'll send you a survey to get all the information we need to fulfill your rewards (including sizes for t-shirts, addresses, etc). And you'll be able to change or update your address freely until we lock them down for shipping. But don't worry! We'll give you a heads up before we do.
💫 How will the ticket presale for backers work?
Presale access will allow backers to purchase tickets from a separate block of tickets before they go on sale to the public. We’ll send out more information at a later date. Tickets will not go on sale before the end of the campaign.
💫 Can I get the ________ reward if I don’t back that tier? i.e. Can I select rewards a la carte?
Unfortunately, we are unable to unbundle items from our reward tiers besides ones that are listed as add-ons.
💫 Can I get both Composer Demo Albums for Nerdy Prudes and VHS Christmas Carol?
We didn’t realize so many people would want both! You can now add-on to get both Composer Demo Albums.
💫 Will the StarKid Reacts livestream reward be available to watch later if I am unable to watch live?
Yes!
💫 Will the merch items in this campaign be available to purchase outside of the campaign?
Nope! They are all backer-exclusive items.
💫 What sizes will the t-shirt and sweats be offered in?
We are still finalizing vendors, but we expect to be able to offer the t-shirt in unisex sizes S-3XL and the sweats in unisex sizes XS-2XL.
💫 Have the designs for reward items been finalized yet?
Not quite! But you can check out individual pledge level pages for current mockups!
💫 Do I have to do anything to receive the returning backer or first 48 hour backer bonus rewards?
Nope! They’ll be automatically added to your reward survey after the campaign ends.
🤓 Will additional casting for Nerdy Prudes be announced during the StarKid Returns campaign?
Not beyond the seven cast members we have already announced! We are still working on casting one additional role as well as understudies, so we will announce those at a later date after the campaign ends.
🤓 When will tickets go on sale/how much will tickets be for Nerdy Prudes?
We will announce ticket information, presale information, on sale date, and exact pricing at a later time. They will not go on sale before the end of the crowdfunding campaign.
🤓 Will there be livestream or digital tickets for Nerdy Prudes?
Yes, there will be digital tickets (information to come at a later date) for Nerdy Prudes! No, there will not be livestream tickets.
🤓 What will the Health & Safety protocol be for attending Nerdy Prudes?
Our current policy is that audience members will be required to be up to date on COVID-19 vaccinations and will also be required to wear masks at all times unless they are actively eating and drinking in designated areas.
🤓 How large is the theatre for Nerdy Prudes?
The El Portal Mainstage accommodates up to 360 audience members.
🤓 What will seating be like for Nerdy Prudes?
El Portal Mainstage has assigned seating which you will select in advance when you purchase your tickets.
🤓 Is the theatre for Nerdy Prudes ADA accessible?
Yes! Please contact the box office of the El Portal Theatre after you buy your ticket so they can accommodate.
🤓 Will there be a stage door/opportunity to meet and greet the cast of Nerdy Prudes?
Unfortunately, for everyone’s health and safety, there will not be any meet and greets.
🤓 Will there be backstage tours for Nerdy Prudes available to purchase outside of the StarKid Returns crowdfunding campaign?
No, there will not be VIP tickets or backstage tours available outside of the campaign.
🤓 Will Nerdy Prudes be posted to YouTube? When?
Yes, Nerdy Prudes will be posted to YouTube but the timeline is TBD (likely late 2023 or early 2024).
🪩 What cities, countries, and dates will the Jangle Ball Tour playing?
We are still finalizing those details! We promise we will announce them as soon as we are able to.

Yes! We hit the stretch goal to create a concert film a la StarKid Homecoming!
