Magical Anarchy: Dawn of The Seventh Age

"Sarcastic Urban Fantasy About The End of The World." — Rick Heinz

Alright...here's the elevator pitch...

The Illuminati, Masons, and a ton of other secret societies have had magic forever. In Chicago, a group of anarchists decide to level the playing field and give that s##t to EVERYONE in the world.

Imagine if you could control the minds of others, or make yourself immortal?

It's simple:

Ergo, a sarcastic series about the end of the world as we bring Myth and Magic crashing back into our world.

For better or worse depending on what side you're on.

Still here? Welcome to Printopia!

If magic has been hidden for so long by those who oppress us, would you join a group of anarchists to punch them in the face and steal it? Would you be Prometheus and give that fire to everyone? Does that make you the good guy?

I'm Rick Heinz, writer of The Red Opera: Last Days of the Warlock, The Black Ballad, The Dark Carnival, and many other TTRPG's and some novels as well! (even some ghost writing! le gasp!) and if you are here...then you probably enjoy a fine novel or audio book.

Magical Anarchy: Dawn of the 7th Age is the first novel in the Magical Anarchy series (and two more books are already written!). This weaponized dead tree opens the series by exploring how we bring magic back and the conspiracy behind such before the series goes fully into a Magic Punk genre.

Obligatory Hollywood Comparison: Hellsing Ultimate meets Constantine.

We need your help to bring this project into a fresh print, fancy Dyslexic friendly print, and into a full dual-cast audio book!

And you get stuff for doing so! Like Books! RPGS! Audio Files! Artwork!

We've got 30 days before the world ends and Magical Anarchy is upon us.

Magical Anarchy - The Audio! (and chaos)

The Audio Book!

What better way to showcase both the WRITING! (by me!) and bringing the story to life for crowdfunding. Since I typed this page up, let's let Jacob work his magic and introduce himself...before the good stuff.

Who is Jacob?

So...Magical Anarchy!

About the Author! (Mostly)

"What else can be said about this person that hasn’t already been uttered in hushed murmurs from within hidden shadows by Eldritch Beings commiserating on how to remove the pesky thorn in their sides known only as… 'Rick'?

For starters, I can say Rick Heinz is a damn fine storyteller, friend, and all-around human being. We’ll get to the storytelling and writing credentials in a moment, but let’s focus on Rick the human. In my personal experience with Rick, he has shown himself to be a truly genuine person who just wants everyone around him to be happy and successful. Don’t let the gothy exterior fool you, Rick is a golden retriever in the skin of a human (he’s going to be so annoyed with me for saying that, but I’m keeping it in)." -Pat Edwards, Co-Founder of Storytellers Forge

Ha! You thought I was going to talk about myself didn't you! MUAHAHAH!!!

I already did a little intro earlier, but I've been a novelist since 2016 and TTRPG writer for a long time. Frankly, the important things you need to know about me are: I believe the Sun is a deadly laser, spiders need to burned or nuked from the high heavens and I write sarcastic things about dead things.

The end! *writer flees!*

Reviews & Press!

Don't want to take our word for why you should pledge? HERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE!

“Visceral, funny, relentless, and clever, Magical Anarchy: Dawn is the rollicking tour of supernatural Chicago you never knew you needed. A mix of Jim Butcher and Terry Pratchett—with just a little Mike Royko thrown in for good measure—an urban fantasy tale with real bite.”

—Scott Kenemore, national bestselling author of Zombie,
Ohio
,and The Grand Hotel

“Unrelenting, unfiltered urban fantasy with a two-pack-a-day habit. Heinz has crammed more supernatural spectacle per square inch than is probably legal.”

—G. Derek Adams, author of Asteroid Made of Dragons

“A riveting read that showcases a supernatural side of Chicago that even Jim Butcher hasn’t seen. Dawn is a suspenseful, page-turning urban fantasy that leaves you waiting for more.”

—April Carvelli, PopCultHQ.com

“A delightfully macabre roller coaster right from the first page. The more you learn about Mike and the world he inhabits, the more you’ll want to know—this book will grab you by the throat until the very end.”

—Dailen Ogden, author and illustrator of The Liminal

“Heinz crafts a dark conspiracy of secret organizations so unique and believable that you’ll want your own bottle of demon’s blood before looking into the shadows again.”

—Zachary Tyler Linville, author of Welcome to Deadland

“Every turn of the page offers realistic magic, dark humor, and nonstop entertainment. This is how a writer makes his debut. What a promising start to a new dark fantasy series by author Rick Heinz.”

—Alicia Smock, Chicago Books Examiner

Stretch Goals!

Stretch Goals! There is always more to unlock!

Listen to Jacob and Rick swear at Rick.

Know those outtake reels? Yeah, this is them. Turns out, Rick isn't a voice actor. So him being in a booth reading a lines... the lines that HE WROTE is kinda funny. With this stretch goal unlocked, we will record and edit the best parts and release it as a bonus audio track.

Did you know we can always print fancier books? Page weight is a thing and interior layout is baller...so...let us get there and give this book some Sparkle. (This use of the word Sparkle, is not endorsed by the infernal taco-stealing hairless rat squirrel thingy named Sparkles).

For all you hardcover lovers out there...this tier makes the hardcover version preeeettttyy.... we are talking painted edges pretty. As we get more books out, the pages themselves will form a whole image. Let's be real, this stretch goal is dedicated to making books look pretty on a bookshelf.

Financials and Death (Why We Are Here)

So, why crowdfunding? Well...we are tiny! (and not Amazon). So, here's where your money goes!

Building a full production book can take up to $15,000 as a novel. It's a steep cost to launch a book and that doesn't include a dime for the author. I survive off the coffee fund. We want you to know HOW your pledge and support goes to help creatives battle the A.I. enterprise that is now devouring everything.

That's the real goal here.

Help us get there please! (My coffee is running low).
Edit

Timelines!

After this crowdfunding ends, we will work to get all special pledge tiers incorporated into the manuscript, and then we hit one final round of editorial before Taysia takes over and starts layout.

While that is happening, audio recording will commence! We aim to release everything digitally by early 2027 and have everything physically shipped by May if the gods are kind.
