One of the original writers of Castle Whiterock was Chris Doyle (recently retired from Goodman Games). His legacy of amazing adventures and RPG contributions will be enjoyed by gamers for a long time to come. This special bonus mini-adventure is available at certain pledge levels, and to anyone as an add-on.
The Shard Vault was initially available only as a PDF (for DCC and 5e), however, we hit the achievement goal (see community tab)! So, now everyone with a physical pledge level will have the option of getting a PRINT edition of the adventure as well. Digital pledge levels can still receive the PDF edition, of TheShard Vault, if ordered.
About the Adventure
The Shard Vault is a short adventure suitable for four to six 9th level characters using the fifth edition of the world’s most popular role-playing game. The appendix includes game statistics for the Dungeon Crawl Classics Role Playing Game. This short adventure is set in an underground location and makes the perfect one-shot. Although the backstory ties into The Crypt of the Devil Lich, published by Goodman Games, that book is not required to play this adventure.

Background (spoiler alert)
Centuries ago, when an alliance of elves, gnomes, dwarves, and humans defeated the Devil Lich and her brazen attack on the surface world, her enchanted longsword, True Death, was sundered into several pieces. Despite all attempts, the unholy relic could not be destroyed. Puzzled by this, the alliance of good postulated that the powerful weapon could be reforged and used to oppose the forces of good. Thus, the shards were divided among the members of the alliance to be guarded and kept secret. They had no idea the shards of the blade were the lich’s phylactery.
The gnomes received one of these shards. It was promptly turned over to the wise administrators at the Clockwork Academy, a gnomish university dedicated to golemcraft, with campuses spread out among the realms. One such campus, located deep below the ruins of Castle Whiterock, was selected to safeguard the shard. A small vault was created, hosting an array of clockwork traps and construct guardians. The shard itself was used the “power” the final guardian: a dragon created with clockwork gears.

Shipping will be collected in the pledge manager at the end of the campaign. Unless you request otherwise, all DOMESTIC mail will be shipped using MEDIA MAIL. Products will be shipped from the United States via USPS to all domestic backers. Expect to pay double the MEDIA MAIL rate if you elect PRIORITY MAIL (an option that is insured, and usually moves a bit faster through the postal system). For approximations check with USPS to see standard rates, and add a couple of USD to account for packing supplies and labor.
For areas outside of the US we have seen prices vary. Canada is about double the prices of deliveries within the US, and most other regions vary from 4 to 6 times the costs. We ship with either USPS, UPS, or in some cases FEDEX, whichever offers the best rates. In addition, we are not certain at this time if added tariffs will affect these shipment costs.
All digital editions will be PDFs delivered through DRIVETHRURPG & BACKERKIT
Our goal is to complete all materials by October of 2026. For printing and shipping allow another month or two. Meaning we hope to see the product release by December of 2026.
In case of delays in printing or shipping, we will alert you in an update ASAP. We have successfully funded 22 products on crowdfunding platforms (Kickstarter and Backerkit) and have a proven record of hitting our timeline, sometimes early!
If we reach ALL stretch goals we will be creating some new material. In this case, we can expect to see a slight delay.
