The Coercitrices Sancti Sanguines, the first of two variants of Power Armour wearing Sisters included as part of the base pledge!
So who are the Coercitrices? Amongst the greatest relics of the Sisters of the Old Blood are the ancient power armour frames left behind by those that came before. In the initial decades after the cataclysm, powerful technology was salvaged and often concentrated in burgeoning factions fighting in the wastes. Most surviving pre fall technology was subsequently destroyed in the conflicts to claim land and resources, but not all. As the religion of the old blood slowly laid its groundwork, the small villas that crowded around shrines and stone churches evolved into sprawling cities clinging to the sides of towering cathedrals, and amongst these immense concentrations of people relics of a bygone age turned up. Perhaps a mercenary who wanted to settle down, or a town sheriff who defended his people with his suit of armour until he fell of old age and his hamlet was absorbed into the Old Blood, there are hundreds of stories of how these relics came to be in the possession of the Sisterhood. Over these years, the armour and systems that clad the frames of these suits was bit by bit destroyed, replaced with artisan wrought plates of steel forged by blacksmiths as their technology slid slowly backwards.
With each great Cathedral City of the Sisters claiming to possess a few dozen suits at most, they assign them to their most battle hardened and talented Sisters of the Order. If the Venatrices are sent to hunt down foes of the Order, and Correctrices are dispatched on religious crusade - The Coercitrices are what the Sisters send to War.
They load their revolving crossbows in sacred and ancient brass, strange relic 'stakes' that pass through the flesh of soft targets like a spear, yet explode after penetrating armour. With these crossbows they carefully pick their targets, firing at short range and trying to ensure each precious shot counts.
If they face foes without armour, the Hand Mortars are the preferred weapon. Each turn of the crank primes another explosive charge to be lobbed in a flash of blackpowder and smoke, devastating hapless victims as it lands and detonates.
We adore the blend of strange Victorian "Contraption" and lost technology, with Crossbows so highly tensioned that mortals cannot draw them back, and black powder mortars that would be too unreliable and dangerous for one not wearing a suit of power armour to wield. They're weird, they're cool, and they're ours.
These are no the only power armoured sisters to come in the campaign - With their Melee focused Cathedral Guard counterpart still being sculpted. But here is a prototype example anyway:
If you haven't already backed the campaign - Now is your reminder to - We're close to our 40k stretch goal - The handmaidens and midwife - And are looking forward to sharing more with you! Thanks everyone!
Thanks to your amazing support we have unlocked the first two stretch goals, two sets of units that help flesh out the Sisters faction and enable us to understand a little bit more of "The Hunt"
The first unit - The Three Blood Sisters are master hunters of the order - But what does this mean?
Scurrying about with the Sisters of the Old blood are the strange and mysterious creatures they go to battle with. A closely held secret among the order is that many of the worst and strangest of these go missing or escape their dutiful service. When such a creature escapes, it continues to grow, expanding its strength, abilities and influence over time. Sisters frequently dispatch hunters to take down these horrifying beasts, effectively clearing up their mistakes. It is a task of solemnity but also great glory, with individual huntresses being given great latitude in how they develop their talents and styles for taking down the horrid creatures.
Each of the three unique characters will be exactly that on the tabletop, named Sisters with different playstyles to guide your forces. The eldest uses guile, smarts and the strange archaic gadgets the tinkerers and inventors of the order create to trap and destroy creatures.
The middle sister prefers raw power, stripping the restrictive armor from her ancient power armor suit and retaining only its enhanced strength and speed. She fights with a blade no mortal can even lift.
The youngest fights with speed, wielding a quick fire grappling hook and zipping across the battlefield with her deadly sabre.
While the Huntresses take down escaped monsters and dangerous creatures of the wild, those creatures still under the control of the order are harnessed by the beastmasters. This goal will cover a small menagerie of hunting beasts, strange gargoyle like creatures that race ahead of the field, hunting parties of sisters. While there is a lot of hunting on the table, the quarry of the field and the quarry of the huntresses is different - One seeks to hound foes en masse, chasing down kindred raiding parties for example, the other hunts giant creatures in the wastes.
This is only the beginning for the campaign - If you love seeing more models added for every single backer at the minis tier, spread the word of the campaign so we can get even more unlocked!
Thankyou everyone! Lets race towards the Handmaidens and Midwives! -Dave
THANKYOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS SUPPORTED THE CAMPAIGN ALREADY!
What a HUGE start to the campaign - Funded in only Four hours and 20 minutes - We cannot express how grateful we are to everyone who has backed the campaign - To us, this is not just people liking some miniatures - This is a vote of confidence in the entire range, in the game world we are working towards, and also the studio and Tabletop Time themselves.
It had been a wild and chaotic return after our child was born, and putting the final touches on the campaign, editing the launch video and making everything work has been a whirlwind. Its been amazing to have you all here with us every step of the way.
WHAT IS NEXT?
We have a huge swathe of exciting stretch goals we would LOVE to produce, starting with the awesome Three Blood Sisters, literal siblings and archetypal master hunters of the order. Each sister specializes in a different way of tackling the great beasts of the wastes. Speed, Intellect or pure brawn. These characters are especially deep rooted in our bloodborne inspiration, and we hope we can make them a reality!
From here, we will be able to post updates, sharing the progress of the two heavy sister units - Sharing renders of new parts as they are finalised and hopefully building a community of excited followers who want to learn more about the Sisters.
Once again - Thankyou - From Dave and a very tired Mumma Jenn at basecamp
We are extremely excited for the launch of the Sisters of the Old Blood - This campaign is hugely important for the future direction of Tabletop Time, and we really hope our concepts for our miniature game world are resonating with you.
I hope you didn't think those lovely Victorian dress wearing ladies with rifle and sword were all we were cooking up for the campaign - They represent only half the core units in the campaign!
Introducing a teaser for the first of two "Heavies" - Power Armour clad Sisters who are the elites of the Sisters of the Old Blood Army. We are currently finalising files for these as we speak, and full part displays and showcases will be shared in the first few weeks of the campaign. Eagle eyed viewers may have also spotted some teasers of the second unit, the elite pontifical guard - We will share more on those later as well!
Greetings everyone! We hope you are as eagerly anticipating the launch of the Sisters as we are! We have a big update that means the launch of the campaign is being delayed just a few weeks, we will do an announcement when we have a solid, final campaign start date - So don't pay too much heed to the timer on the page right now.
Our big announcement is our Sister of the Old Blood in chief - Jenn, is now a Mum! The unexpected, early and healthy arrival of our newborn has thrown our planning and release schedule into disarray, but once we've worked things out we will be ready to launch soon!
Suitably, we are going to share a WIP for the Heavy Sisters - Thematically celebrating the splendour and sacrifice mothers make with this effigy of pregnant sister. As always, sculpted by Patrick Keith from Bombshell Minis
You will hear more from us soon! Please share and spread the campaign to anyone you think might be keen! Thanks! Dave + Jenn + Murray + Vaughn + Alysha + Jazza + Tabletop Tot
WELCOME! Thankyou for Following! And our First Reveal!
Thankyou to all who expressed interest in following the Sisters of the Old Blood Campaign! In the leadup to the campaign, we will be sharing with you updates and additions to the campaign - Revealing the miniatures that will be showcased and what you can expect if you back! For our first reveal, we thought we would show off one of the two squads of 'light infantry' in more detail. These are the huntswomen of the order. The Ordinatae Venatrices.
We will have more updates and add to the pre launch page as we go! And are extremely excited to hear from you all, what are you hopeful for? What are you looking forward to most? and how will YOU use your Sisters miniatures?
