Registration is Imminent!
Heeelllloooooo backers!

We are barely over a month away from BATSCon, if you can believe it! And with the day fast approaching…

Our event schedule is officially live!

We’re using Cardboard Connect for our event registration this year. It’s our first time using the platform. It’s been smooth sailing so far, but if any issues come up feel free to tag us in the Discord or send an email to [email protected]!

One thing to keep in mind is that Cardboard Connect doesn’t allow us to post events in increments of 15 minutes, but due to the library schedule, games will not be starting until 10:15am day-of. 10am is just when doors open!

A few things may be added or adjusted in the coming days, but please begin browsing and planning your ideal day :)

Registration for Pallid Bat & higher tier backers opens Thursday, September 3rd at 12:00pm!

Everyone who backed at the Pallid Bat or above has been assigned badges in Cardboard Connect, and will be able to register as soon as we launch! You should see an email in your inbox about it. Half of all seats will be available in this phase, and the other half will open up a week later on Thursday, September 10th at 12:00pm.

Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any trouble with the platform!

We’re so excited for you to see the roster that we’ve been working on the past few weeks!! The fact that we’re even able to use a platform like Cardboard Connect, with all its bells and whistles, is thanks to all of you. Gone are the days of us manually updating Luma entires one by one! It’s a miracle, honestly. Thank you, gamers– and so excited to see you there!

A wrap on the campaign!
And… wow :’) Not only did we hit the goal within an hour of launch, but y’all kept showing up past that even up to the very end. We over tripled our initial ask, blowing past 3k.

We decided as a team early on that we weren’t going to add any particular stretch goals; the amount of money that we needed to make the event happen was set from the start, and it felt superfluous to tack on arbitrary goals just because we could. That said, we’ve been throwing around ideas of something fun to offer as a thank-you, as well as ideas for the community fund. No specific details there yet, though, since all of that is taking a slight backseat to… well… scheduling the con!

We’ve met twice now to go over game selections, and folks who submitted should start to hear back from us this week! If you submitted a programming pitch and *haven’t* heard from us by the end of August, please reach out. We’re planning to get in touch with everyone who submitted :)

And once again: thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!! On one hand, we’re a little one-day event at your local library; and on the *same* hand (my cat is sitting on the other), we’re looking at twenty scheduled games, multiple panels/workshops, and a wonderful slate of drop-in programming provided for free to anyone who wants to show up and take part in the magic. We’re looking at an event that I gleefully tout to my friends in the industry, because it won’t be another large convention where we bustle around throwing business cards at each other, working booths to afford a spot at, and sneaking in time with friends on the side after hours. It’s a day for us and for the love of the game– literally. Thanks for making that happen, gamers ♥️

I’ll try to be more frequent with the updates now that the planning crunch is in full swing! Expect to hear from us soon about when those early signups will drop, and what format they will drop in. I have a  meeting about that tomorrow morning, in fact, so it’s off to bed for me ;) See you around!

Programming submissions are now open!
Hello again friends! Just a brief note to let you know the submission form to facilitate programming at BATSCon 2026 has landed. Here it is! The form is open until August 10th, but submissions entered before July 25th will be given priority.

On an earlier form, we had an issue where it required a Google account to fill out the form. We’ve tested and that shouldn’t be an issue here, but if anyone runs into difficulties please let us know!

We’re particularly interested in drop-in/drop out style programming this year. This means programming that attendees can easily jump into mid-game, or participate from the sidelines, or take just a few turns and then move on. Examples from last year include the mega street magic game as well as the drop-in Miscroscope game, but if you have other ideas, don’t feel limited to worldbuilding endeavors!

So excited to see what everyone cooks up! See you around :^)

THANK YOU!!!
Hey gamers, Rory here!

Myself and the entire BATSCon team are blown away by the support you all showed last week. We fully funded in less than an hour, we hit double that number by the end of the day, and we’re standing here twelve days later with our jaws on the floor. When we were projecting crowdfunding, we had some discussions about what we might do if we were really lucky and hit 2k; blowing past it (and so quickly!) was never a thought in our minds.

We don’t have to worry about paying for any con expenses out of pocket! We have a budget to establish a presence at fairs and other local events! We’ve covered the cost of the website! And on top of all of that, we have a solid foundation for the establishment of a community fund to cover material costs for folks who can’t afford it, allow local game stores to open some free seats in their events, and pitch in toward projects by the incredible local creators who keep our scene alive and thriving.

The most incredible part of this is the sheer generosity from all of you. With our lowest option sitting at $10, we didn’t expect anyone to spring for the Silver Haired Bat tier, let alone the Big Brown boy. The message is clear: not only do folks want to see BATSCon happen, but you also believe in the work that we do and the impact that it has.

We’ll be leaving the Backerkit up until its original planned end date in August, just in case anybody who wanders in late to the game wants to grab any of those perks. At this point, though, we are very comfortably funded, and very excited to move forward with our preparations. On that note…

Event submissions will be opening this Monday, 5/25!

You’ll get another update with the link to the form. Of course, we’re looking for scheduled one-shot games. We’re also opening the floor up to workshops and panels, and looking for a fair amount of drop-in/drop-out style programming. The library will have a lot of traffic throughout the day, and we want to try and harness some of that attention as best we can!

Be in touch soon– and once again, thank you. This is an immense labor of love for us. It’s become clear the same is true for all of you :) <3

Don’t hesitate to get in touch with any questions or ideas, either through the Discord or [email protected]!
