Project Update: LIGHTBRINGER - Campaign Re-Launch: Sept 8 (Tomorrow)
Hi everyone,
First of all, thank you to all who completed surveys for our initial Black Prism campaign launch. Your feedback was invaluable, and it has helped us analyze and restructure the campaign.
It has taken us a bit to sift through and streamline everything, but based on your enthusiasm and encouragement (and our desire to make something awesome), we have decided to relaunch the campaign. Here are the details:
Launch Date/Time: Tomorrow - Thursday, September 8, 2022 9AM PST
End Date: September 30, 2022 (only 3 weeks!)
Changes:
First of all, thank you to all who completed surveys for our initial Black Prism campaign launch. Your feedback was invaluable, and it has helped us analyze and restructure the campaign.
It has taken us a bit to sift through and streamline everything, but based on your enthusiasm and encouragement (and our desire to make something awesome), we have decided to relaunch the campaign. Here are the details:
Launch Date/Time: Tomorrow - Thursday, September 8, 2022 9AM PST
End Date: September 30, 2022 (only 3 weeks!)
Changes:
- Focus: We will be focusing heavily on what The Black Piper does best: the music. This means that we have pulled back on nearly all of the associated merchandise. While the merch was almost all developed up front and ready to be manufactured at the push of a few buttons, the abundance of options was too much. As a result, we're beginning this new campaign with the music (and a little bit of art) only.
- Anthology: Data and feedback from the previous campaign suggested that the anthology piece was, on its own, rather successful. But in the interest of streamlining our focus, we are splitting the anthology into its own campaign. We will update you with details on this later, but we are very excited for the possibilities with this.
- Fewer Tiers: In the interest of simplification and due to the removal of merchandise, we have reduced the number of pledge tier options.
- Starting Small: One recurring theme in your feedback is your interest in quality. To that end, we will be starting small, and our first "album upgrade" (stretch goal) will allow us to record with live musicians (soloists). From there, stretch goals will add additional tracks to the album (effectively allowing us to add additional composers, who will bring new perspectives - and thus a deeper quality - to the album).
We are deeply grateful for your willingness to help us succeed and your willingness to provide feedback. As a reminder, you were not charged for your pledge on the last campaign. We would love your help in making this new campaign a resounding success. We'll provide you with a link tomorrow, where you can come, check out the new structure/tiers, and make a new pledge.

Project Update: LIGHTBRINGER: New Campaign - Survey 2
Hi everyone,
Thank you to all who participated in the brief 4-question poll. I know it didn't cover a lot of ground - we were trying to get a general sense of the direction to go based on your responses.
As of right now, thanks to your continued support, we are definitely considering a follow-up campaign to make both the album and the anthology happen. We have been looking at ways to change the campaign internally to allow for success, and we have some ideas, but we need some specific feedback from you.
We've put together a follow-up survey to find out what you think went well, what you're excited about, what was confusing, and what could be done better. We've tried to make it as multiple choice as possible, but we've also left some room for short form text feedback, if you feel inclined to provide more in-depth answers.

Project Update: LIGHTBRINGER + Anthology: We Need Your Responses; Next Steps
Hi Everyone,
What a month this last month has been! I know it may seem like Saturday should feel like a bummer as we didn't hit our "big goal", but there are actually some major positives to this last month.
What a month this last month has been! I know it may seem like Saturday should feel like a bummer as we didn't hit our "big goal", but there are actually some major positives to this last month.
The Wins
- We made a lot of new and amazing friends!
- You all (both OG friends and new friends) showed up to support us in a big way. That means a LOT!
- We got to be a part of the launch for this new BackerKit platform and have been building a great relationship with them. (We love that they listen to the creators and are so agile and fast to respond.)
- And something pretty huge:
Together, you pledged more than 93% of all music Kickstarters!
I'm going to say that again, because, honestly, that bears repeating: YOU PLEDGED MORE THAN 93% OF ALL MUSIC KICKSTARTERS - EVER! That is not a small feat. That is a very large feat.

Project Update: Black Prism: Last Few Days - Unlocking (Almost) Everything
Hi everyone,
We are now in the last few days of the campaign, and we have a big push ahead of us! There is certainly a ways to go, and it may seem massive, but there are a few (small, yet huge) things that you can do to help make this a success.
We are now in the last few days of the campaign, and we have a big push ahead of us! There is certainly a ways to go, and it may seem massive, but there are a few (small, yet huge) things that you can do to help make this a success.
1. Bring a Friend
Given our current average pledge amount, if each one of us brings just one friend to pledge, we will hit the goal. Is there anyone you can think of who would love a particular reward? Tell them how awesome it is in a personal message!
2. Increase Your Pledge
Some of you are already pledging a lot - above and beyond! We thank you deeply for your love of and patronage of the arts and your belief in our mission to flood the world with music.
For those willing to increase their pledge, we have been making some adjustments to allow us to offer you more goodies - which means more cool stuff for you and/or gifts for your friends and loved ones. (Think Christmas and birthdays and other celebrated gift-giving days.) This means that:

Additional Anthology Entries
We are also adding on the option for anyone entering the anthology to add additional entries for $100 each (up to 5 total). (Initial entry is still $350 for the tier or $300 as an add-on). Each additional story will receive the same treatment (professional editing, soundtrack) as the main pledge. You can even use this option to gift an entry to someone else!
Easy Additions
Using a simple feature that BackerKit implemented, we've made it easy for you to add funds to your pledge for things you want. All you'll need to do is to click the image in the Add-Ons section for the thing they want. This will take you to the pledge adjustment page with the amount for the add-on added to your pledge, and there, you can "Confirm Your Pledge". (Please note that if you have already increased your pledge beyond the tier amount, you may still need to do some calculations to be sure you're adding the right amount for any increase.) But this should help make things easier.
