Ahoy Spacefarers!

What a month it’s been, from start to finish perhaps the greatest we’ve yet to experience here at the Dragons Vault, and that is all thanks to you. So thank you, to all who followed and backed, who commented and voted in the polls, who shared our project far and wide, who cheered us on as we charted these seas together, we say thank you!

We have the best job in the world, truly, and because of your support for us and for Lodestar we get to keep doing it for another incredible year (and Aston can finally come aboard full-time!!). We can’t wait to begin work, and take you along with us as we discover the seas of the Beyond together. Speaking of, I wanted to point those who might’ve missed it towards the finale of our Choose Your Own Adventure posts, in which the final fate of the Dawnstar is revealed, as is the contents of the final treasure!

Now the campaign has wrapped up you can expect updates from us every other Monday. These updates will keep you in the loop with the books production, show off new art and mechanics, and even invite you to playtest early access rules and mechanics from the book and then discuss them via our community discord (more on that below).

We will have more information for you next Monday, including a breakdown of our production timeline and pledge manager info etc., but until then Aston and myself will be taking a week off work. We’ve been working incredibly hard over the past few months as you can imagine, so we are going to take some time with our loved ones and to get our heads ready for the epic voyage ahead of us as we bring this book to life!

This is your official post-campaign invitation to come hang out in the Dragons Vault Discord! We’ve got a nearly 1000 strong community there already, full of people talking everything from community made Lodestar soundtracks to our own Vault Gauntlet monster creation competition! We also post our playtest materials in there, as well as workshop mechanics and ideas with the community long before they ever make it to print. Ahoy me valiant Spacefarers!

I come aboard today with treasure and good tidings a'plenty!

First of all, for those that have ever valuble feedback on our previous playtest (Battlewrought Fighter & Assorted Arcana) I come bearing the playtest survey! Myself and Conor go through these pretty thoroughly when we're finalizing the subclasses before they make it into the book so it's always super valuable to hear what y'all think! We had a record number of replies on the previous survey so we'd love to keep up the pattern!

But I'm not just here to harvest your deeply valuble knowledge and experience, I also come bearing the gift of your next playtest document! Inside the link at the bottom of this update you will find Playtest 02: Path of the Comet Barbarian & College of Superstition Bard! Will you be a force of pure momentum on the battlefield? Leaping great distances to destroy your foes (and their worldly possessions)? Or will you instead choose to imbue your usually inspirational bardic dice with the malicious intent of terrifying superstition? Whichever path you tread we hope it will be a glorious one!

And finally who wants another stream? *queue cheering and joyous noise here* Me and Conor have decided we wanna chat to you more than we do at the minute! We want you guys to be able to field questions, hear updates, and just generally pick our brains on whatever y'all fancy! So if you have burning questions about the design of any of our mechanics, Lodestar's Content, or even just about our favourite soup we'd love to have you! Ahoy Spacefarers!

I hope you all had as restful a time over the holidays as we did here at the vault! Myself and Aston have spent a solid few weeks away from work and with our families, but are now officially back on the space-grind to bring Lodestar to life!

With that in mind, here is our first official playtest document for Lodestar, featuring the awesome Battlewrought Fighter subclass and a selection of new magic items and spells! So if you’ve ever wanted to experience the true power of being a cyborg space-pirate, here be your opportunity!

Have a play with it, see what you like and don’t like, then next month with will return with a feedback survey to collect all of your thoughts and ideas (along with a brand new playtest document).
