Skellies: an RPG of goofs, liches, and skeletal buffoonery

Skellies is a gravely unserious d6 RPG where you play as risen skeletons in a lich's thrall. Your undead purpose is simple: use your Bones, Brains, and Goofs to make your lich's immortality as great as possible! And relax, you're already dead.

Congratulations: you are a skeleton.

In Skellies, your goal is to impress the lich that raised you from the dead. Liches seek immortality and power for one reason or another, and yours is probably no different. What an honor it is to know your maker, or to be in their presence! Sure, being alive seemed okay, but being dead is much more fun.

Over eternity, every lich becomes a weirdo: by going along with it, you may earn enough favor to see tomorrow.

All you need is a handful of six-sided dice and a few minutes to get started: the rules themselves are covered in under ten pages (and again on the inside of the back cover).

Edit
Skellies has been purposefully designed to have the most fun possible when someone calls out of game night at the last minute.

Character, lich, and lair creation takes moments. The rules are short and purposefully goofy. There are so many rollable tables.

Think OSR but it's an undead office comedy, and Benny Hill is always playing in the background.

It's really fun, and really free at playskellies.com.

Game Book: The 80-page hardcover book of the game rules, the same as what you'll find in the digital PDF. Has a little ribbon bookmark. Makes you look cool.

Player Book: A softcover book with 50 tearable character sheets with quick-reference rules. At the back of the book are perforated wet-erase ready item squares for tracking inventory!

Dice: Each of these seven d6s has a different skeleton face on its 6 side! The edges have satisfying, bonelike cracks that make it feel like an illustration. Comes in a delightful coffin-shaped box. Genuinely fun to roll.

Extra Dead Edition exclusives:

  1. Reversible Dust Jacket with Alternate Covers. Features a wrap-around version of the standard cover's scene on one side, and an alternative book cover option for "The Ethics of Necromancy and How to Ignore Them" on the other.
  2. Lich Dice Tower. Made of punchboard and assembled at home with some simple slot-ins. About 10 inches tall. Looks awesome on a shelf even when not in use.
  3. Stickers. Cheeky skelly stickers and a hand holding a dagger. Water resistant. Will add to street cred.
  4. Necronomicon Tome Box. Deluxe box purpose-built to look good in your library as a handy Necronomicon tome. Has a convex spine and concave "paper" edge with a built-in magnetic clasp. Fits everything from the Extra Dead Edition bundle and both A4 and Letter papers. Seriously cool.

Shipping, tariff, and sales taxes are calculated separately in the pledge manager after the campaign.

Edit
And, if you're coming from the the Kickstarter campaign for The Griffon's Saddlebag: Books Three and Four, you can get these bonus stickers with your Skellies pledge when you support both campaigns! Just make sure you're using the same email!
Edit

  1. Your order may include a shared-cost tariff surcharge (typically under €10).
  2. Other costs, like sales tax or VAT, are charged separately.
  3. Shipping costs are calculated after the campaign ends in the pledge manager.

Dollars are in their local region's currency (USD/CAD/AUD)

Packages to the UK, EU, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand will ship from warehouses within those regions, meaning you don't need to worry about import taxes.

* Non-continental prices may be higher for some packages.
** EU shipping prices can very a lot, especially for island nations and remote locations. The prices shown are a typical average.
*** South America: estimated shipping does not include import taxes or customs duties. These may be charged upon delivery and must be paid separately by the backer.

Campaign Timeline

The following dates are estimates. I do not expect complexity, and, in general, they assume things take a little longer.

  • Production should begin no later than May 2027 (takes 2-3 months to finish).
  • Freight would begin by August 2027 (takes 2-3 months to arrive).
  • Fulfillment would begin by November 2027 (takes 1-2 months to complete).

My personal goal is to have production begin by March, which would put all these dates 2 months earlier. I believe it's achievable, but I also know that things can get in the way beyond my control: thank you for your patience, whatever happens. The sooner these are in your hands, the happier both you and I are!

Edit

The Dutch Version of Skellies is also available! You can add it as an add-on or switch your existing copy to Dutch in the Pledge Manager after the campaign. (Can not replace the Game Book in the Extra Dead Edition Box Set)
