First off—it was so lovely seeing some of you at UKGE last week! Thank you for your support and for stopping by our stand 🥰
Now, onto some Mystified updates!
Writing Progress
We’ve nearly wrapped up Chapter 5—our final chapter! Pembrook and Porto Verde (along with their mysteries and maps) are done. All that’s left is Kravenspire, which I’m hoping to finish in the next two weeks at most.
We’ll be sending this last chapter to beta readers later this month. Once we incorporate their feedback, the book will head to proofreading in July.
Design Progress
While writing wraps up, Fleur is busy with layouts and adding spot illustrations where needed. She’s also completed the maps for Pembrook and Porto Verde and is now working on Kravenspire’s—our final large illustration!
We’re really starting to see the finish line—thank you so much for your continued patience!
Each map is rendered in a different style to match the setting!
Other Updates
We still need to complete the GM screen and bookplate. These will be tackled once the book is with the proofreaders, as our focus is fully on completing the book right now.
During this time, Fleur will also be laying out the Peccadillo Daily and the Pet Supplement.
And a quick note—thank you to everyone who submitted an entry for the Peccadillo Daily in our last update! I made a small mistake with the form and didn’t include a field for email addresses. By the time I realised, there were already six submissions without contact info 😅
If you submitted an entry and didn’t provide your email, please message us with it so we can send you a copy of the newspaper once it’s ready!
As always, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Calling all budding columnists, chattering debutantes, and whimsical wordsmiths! ✒️ The Peccadillo Daily—the finest (and only) newspaper in our Flabbergasted world—is now accepting submissions for our next (and only!) edition, to be sent out with Mystified!
We’re looking for: 🔍 Outlandish gossip 📜 Local news 💌 Agony aunt letters 📢 Classifieds, letters to the editor & more!
Whether it's ridiculous, dramatic, heartfelt, or just plain silly—we want it!
We’ve got some exciting progress to share with you all.
First off, all final illustrations by Dozerdraws are now in! You can see the last one below. We’ve also included some shots of the special edition dice by Duplex Crucis and the finished lucky coins. The dice are currently on their way to us—once we receive the sample, we’ll share photos of that in the next update!
We're now working on the GM screen and the bookplate—these are the final remaining add-ons to complete.

Since our last update, Chapters 4 and 6 are complete! That leaves Chapter 5—the heart of the mysteries. Much of it is already written, but we weren’t satisfied with a couple of the mysteries, so we’ve been rewriting and testing new ones. Our goal is to finish writing Chapter 5 by the end of May and send it off to our beta readers.
From there, we aim to have the PDF in the hands of our proofreaders and sensitivity reader in June, with a final version ready by July (fingers crossed!). We’ll keep you posted, but it’s important to us that Chapter 5 is the best it can be before moving forward.
To end this update off, below are a couple of new spreads we haven't shown before :)

We hope your new year is off to a fantastic start! We’re excited to share some final illustrations by Dozerdraws, along with a sketch for the final piece. The full illustrations are almost finished!
Aside from this, we've been working on some of the add-ons with Mystified. We're stocked to announce that the metal lucky coins and the dice have been sent to the manufacturers. We've also started working on the design for the GM screen. As for the special edition dice by Duplex Crucis, they’re all finished! We'll send pics of those in the next update. Below, you’ll find the final designs for the lucky coins and dice.
On another note, we’re a bit behind on the book layout as Fleur got sick and couldn't work for a couple weeks, which has slowed down our progress. (Hi, Fleur here, Influenza sucks :<) However, our beta readers are currently reviewing the first part of the book, and we’re eager to jump back into laying out chapters 4-6 soon.
Realistically, we’re aiming to send the book to print in the second quarter of this year, with fulfilment happening in the third quarter, but we’ll keep you posted with more specific dates as we move forward. Apologies for the delays, and thank you for your patience!
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out.
We have some delightful news to brighten your day! First off, we’re thrilled to share some art sketches for the book. The marvellously talented Dozerdraws is hard at work illustrating all the chapter title art, and we’re expecting the final pieces to be completed by early January. Keen-eyed backers might even spot their custom commission portrait in these sketches!
Flabbergated is Back in stock! Just a quick note to let you all know that we have in our hands the reprint of Flabbergasted - now available to purchase from our store. If you ordered Flabbergasted in the mystified campaign, it will be shipped out with Mystified and not earlier.
Next, back to writing and layout progress! Next, on to writing and layout progress! We must admit, the writing process is taking a bit longer than anticipated. As we lay out the book, the text often needs adjusting, and new ideas have a habit of sneaking in. Still, we’re pleased to say we’re on track to send the book to print in the first quarter of next year.
Finally, we’d like to wish you all a very happy holiday season! We’ll be taking a well-earned break from next week until the 2nd of January, after which we’ll dive back in with renewed vigour.
Cheerio for now, and may your holidays be utterly jolly! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out.
