I´m Therbis, a independent illustrator and artist from Germany with a passion for dinosaurs! Before this campaign, I had 8 Kickstart campaigns, every single one of them very successful. The range went from coloring- and comic books, hard enamel pins, elastic wristbands and the by now most popular category, plushies! So welcome here, to my very first Backerkit campaign!
Yuri&Friends 2 is my third plushy campaign overall, Yuri & Friends goes for season two with 8 new dinosaur designs!
My plushies get professionally produced and are even CE certified which means it´s save for children to play with! This certificate is also needed to even legally sell toys in the EU. But time for our dinosaur fellas and how it all works!
But hear me out right ahead : If you can, join in as soon and as big as you plan to, don´t wait out for stuff to happen. The more people just wait, the more likely the campaign could fail or not unlock all plushies. We gotta do this together, right away. So let´s go!
Yuri & Friends Season 2 are in total 8 different dinosaur plush toys that can be unlocked! The name Yuri is actually the lead plush from season one, the Yutyrannus. Every 2 years Yuri will get more plushy friends through a crowdfunding campaign! I love to add some exotic dinosaur species as you won´t find them in stores as often, but season 2 of Yuri & Friends has many of the all popular classics this time. At the same time I want them save for everyone, so ALL my plushies get a CE certificate which means they got tested and proven to be save for children to play with.
The first plush of this new season is Piper the Parasaurolophus! I had her produced as a sample from my own finances as I strongly believe in this project and wanted to be able to show you how great these stuffed fellas can look. In this season I´m working with a new supplier who showed me already that they work faster and with better material. The long neck fur Piper got for example, is so soft you will want to sink your face into it!
All plushies are roughly 20-25cm in hight, soft to touch and some even got a longer fur like Piper does.
The most important part to know : What´s the rewards?! Plushies of course! Since we start with Piper, she will be the goal to reach first. Pick a pledge you´d like to back!
My important tip from right away : Trust in the Backerkit goals! This means if you want 3 plushies right away, pledge for all 3 right away too! When everyone does that, we reach the goals in no time. People holding back will only lead to others holding back or not even join the campaign. If your wished products didn´t unlock near the campaigns end, you can still edit your pledge.
There is 8 pledges to pick from, from 1 to 8 plushies to receive. Don´t get confused by the pledges pictures, you will be able to pick any of the unlocked plushies you want and are not bound to take for example Piper and Cooper just because the pledge image shows the two!
Pick any pledge you like and then have a visit at the add-on section where you can add adoption papers or more plushies. An adoption paper contains a A6 paper that´s designed like a pet ID of your dinosaur, plus it´s favorite snack so it won´t go hungry on it´s way to you. Maybe it leaves something to share with you!
There is also one special item you can´t add to your basket but you only get if you back early, within the first 48 hours of the campaign : A FREE and exclusive lanyard!
There is also a new specialty I just brought up in my last plush campaign : CUSTOMS! Since some people have showed a demand on wanting their own plushy in my style, I decided to offer a couple of these with each crowdfunding campaign of mine, but ONLY in the campaigns! So if you count yourself to the ones wanting a custom plush, this is your chance. Taking that slot not only gives you your very own plushy fella that only you got, but it also helps the campaign reach it´s goal far faster. We will design your plush together until it´s ready to get to you. It can be a design of your own that already exists, or a custom you want me to design first. Either way, you get the plushy and the digital drawing of your plush. There is 2 different pledges for the customs, one only contains the custom plush, the other also contains 8 more plushies so that you could also take one of each of the Yuri & Friends 2 plushies if all unlock.
Below you can also see two examples of custom plushies from last year. They´re a different kind of plush called Pocketsaurus though, the customs you´d get would be in the style and size of Yuri & Friends!
Piper the Parasaurolophus is the first of the dinosaur friends group we aim to unlock! Once the financing goal is hit and Piper is funded, we can work towards unlocking all her friends! The unlocking goals might seem high, but they are fine to reach when enough people join this campaign. We actually got earlier campaigns funded with higher goals even, so trust our process!
Crowdfunding campains work by the simple way : All or nothing. If the campaign can´t make it´s goal, you won´t be charged.
You´ll first have to choose the pledge you´d like to support first. You wont be charged right away!
When the campaign finished successfully, you will be charged by Backerkit.
It´ll take a couple days to maybe a week to get all funds in and solve card issues with some people. Please keep an eye on your emails and your Backerkit account for the first days after the campaign! It often happens that card issues appear or some banks want your approval before money get´s charged.
Within this time I will also send out the surveys in which you can let me know what plushies you´d like!
Once the money all got paid out to me, I will contact my supplier so we start to design the samples for the the 7 more dinosaur designs (since Pipers sample is obviously already done). This process with edits and finishing will take 1-2 months to make sure they look their best! My new supplier couldn´t tell me exactly how long it might take since we will stick with one designer only to keep the style the same, but even the one of Piper was done within just 2 weeks and included 3 small edits! That´s speedy!
You´re gonna be part of the plushy creation as I will share the process with the backers of the campaign! You get to see the first samples and my edit sketches I sent to the supplier.
Once approved, it will take another 40-60 days to produce all the plushies which will then be sent to me. This is roughly the time the shipping will be charged for your pledges. Thanks to Backerkit options, it´s now far easier for me to calculate shipping costs more exact unlike on Kickstarter where you had to roughly plan it in before which was kind of risky.
Once they arrive after an import time of 40-60 days, it can take another 1-2 weeks to sort all orders, pack and ship the plushies to all backers. All time estimations are planned with a big time puffer to make sure I rather plan in too much time and deliver your plushies sooner than later!
You´ll constantly be updated about the campaigns status from me so you know where we´re at! Once shipped, you get a tracking code so you can check online where your package is at. Packages are insured and come from Germany.
Shipping fees collected post-campaign in Pledge Manager!
Your shipping costs will depend on if you live within or outside of Germany, the amount of plushies, the packages final size and weight. Below you can see a calculation of what your shipping costs are going to be. It´s only calculated for up to 10 plushies, if you want to go all wild though and order way more, you can calculate 8€ more per 2 more plushies for worldwide shipping. Shipping will roughly be charged by June-July when mass production is about to start.
The shipping prices are sadly quite high thanks to current events and German shipping being expensive in general, but all packages are protected by a package insurance and will all have their own tracking codes so that you can track your order when it´s on it´s way to you!
I planned in roughly 1-2 weeks to sort orders, package and ship.
As mentioned at the start, I'm a independent German artist. Known by the name of Therbis, my legal name is Nathalie and within the last 5 years I specialized myself to dinosaurs, having over 20 years of experience in the art business in general. My main job is my webshop on TherbisStudio.com where I constantly design new dinosaur merchandise. But I also got multiple webcomics going on and I finished hundreds if not easily a thousand commissions for clients within the last 2 decades.
