Sea of Stars: Galactic Role Playing is a science fiction tabletop RPG that can accommodate whatever type of adventure you can think of. Using a new character creation process, your new Identity will feel connected to the galaxy even before play starts.
13 million million cubic light years, 1/3 of the galaxy, seven races, no major military conflicts, and still we find ways to fight. The Galactic Republic of Civilizations (GRC) tries its best to keep all of us in line, but someone always wants what someone else has. Whether it is data, power, or just plain currency. Those who have what other’s crave fight just as hard to keep it. Even the GRC isn’t blameless; nor the Core governments or the Fringe.
Sea of Stars Galactic Role Playing is an exciting, new setting and system. The new Identity System will help you to create an Identity with a unique and exciting back story.. The sprawling setting allows for a myriad of adventures. No matter who you end up as in this galaxy of ours remember...
Peace is relative.
Conflict is constant.
Your course will be choppy in this Sea of Stars.

First, Sea of Stars Galactic Role Playing is not related to or affiliated with that other Sea of Stars you may be thinking of.
It is an independently produced science fiction tabletop role playing game. Unlike RPGs you may have played or may be familiar with, Sea of Stars Galactic Role Playing is a skill based system. There are no classes. No preset determination of skills and abilities for a character. As your character progresses you choose your path by acquiring and improving skills and other attributes.
Set roughly 200 Earth years into the future, it provides a wide and deep sandbox for any type of adventure you can think of and want to play in. In the setting of Sea of Stars Galactic Role Playing, Humanity has been a part of the Galactic Republic of Civilizations (GRC) for almost 150 Galactic Years (about 166 Earth Years). Currently within the GRC there are no major military actions. Sure there are those who still murder, use violence, and all manner of policing actions, but as much as any large government can claim, the GRC is at peace.
The GRC consists of seven core civilizations of which Humanity is one. Humanity and its culture has become a multi-planet, and multi-system species. However, as in most RPGs, you will not be restricted to playing only Humans. All seven core species are available when creating an Identity (this is what we call characters).
Speaking of creating Identities, this is one of the unique aspects of Sea of Stars Galactic Role Playing. When designing the game we noticed that one of the problems with traditional character generation was that the process of creating a persona to play didn't also make the character feel connected to the setting they were playing in. To solve this we created the Identity System.
In the Identity system you take your Identity through phases of their life - species, childhood, young adult, and careers. In each phase you choose a life path for your Identity. These life paths provide attributes, qualities, skills, and/or other mechanics. They also provide an outline of a backstory and a connection to the galaxy they will be inhabiting. If you choose to roll on our Random Event Tables, the backstory will only grow as will the Identity's connection to the Galaxy.
First and foremost you need imagination. Other than that it is a simple system to use.
Mechanics
For rolls to resolve actions, and most things, Sea of Stars Galactic Role Playing uses a d100 system. The number you need to roll is simply the ability number or the skill number. The rolled number needs to meet or be less than this target number. For example:
Siah wants to sneak past some guards, They have a sneak skill of 55. The number rolled is 48, so Siah successfully sneaks past.
Some rolls may require 1d10, 3d10 or higher, or even the fabled 1d5. You can read more about that in the book.

Aron & Anna
Aron Zell
Writer, designer, non-practicing rocket scientist
Yes you read that right. Aron went to school and got his degree in rocket science (aerospace engineering). Aside from that unique qualification, he has also been a player and game master of RPGs since the mid 1980s. He is the originator and creator of the RPG Sea of Stars Galactic Role Playing and the Identity System. Also this might all have been his idea.
Anna Seamon
Artist, voice of reason, and keeps the business afloat
All those pretty hand drawn pictures are purely Anna's fault. She has been enjoying RPGs and table top games since childhood. She is now an accomplished game master with a talent for making pretty pictures. She also maintains her goth principals by being oddly obsessed with the fictional anatomy of things.
