Project Update: Off to a great start!

Dillon, Evan, and I created this campaign as an opportunity to engage with new creators.

The "Becc the Brave & Ceith the Curious" story was created because two parents wanted their son to be a character in a kids book, but did not have the time and know-how to undertake the project. Since then, other parents have requested their kids be the feature of the next book in the series. Perhaps "Lucc the Lightfoot" will get his story. Maybe someone wants to bring their daughter to life?

Dillon and I, since determining this will become a series, have also been talking about the A-story that connects the standalone books in the series. There will probably be a villain / catastrophe that loosely ties all of the books together.

Enter "Pendelve the Parser & Jorunn the Jester" in an upcoming short story. We are finally adding ourselves as characters in Bastunia, complete with 3 full powered beasts. This story will be a glimpse into the larger world beyond Hömme (where Becc & Ceith live).

If you would like to make an appearance in this short story, get in touch!

Project Update: Becc & Ceith get a facelift!

On Wednesday nights the team gets together and talks shop. Lore, pace, plans, commitments, challenges, how unimpressed Evan is with Disneyland's castle, and other things...secrets that you will have to wait a bit longer to know.

Evan draws the entire time. Last night he drew Becc & Ceith.

Good news! If you've already backed, then you will see the image below (below below, like below Sig and Sonk). If you have not, then once you do, it will be waiting for you in "updates" inside the campaign.

Soon, we intend to bring a second illustrator into these meetings. His name is Casey. He joined me on the Live Illustration last Friday where in a single hour, he crafted (below) Sig Scroffe and his Calling, the Boar, aka Sonk, aka Muzzleblades.

Project Update: What would your kid's "Bastunian Viking" name be?

I heard some good ones yesterday.

Spencer the Savage.

Christian the Courageous.

Ashlyn the Ambitious (you may remember her from the last page of Book 3).

Poppy the Persistent.

Rayna the Reckless.

Lucc the Lightfoot, Legend, Learned...

Most book series maintain a pattern across each title, like "Harry Potter & the..." This kids series will feature our followers kids and the lessons you want to teach them. In future campaigns, we will offer opportunities to sponsor a book and curate stories with you. Give it some thought. Do you want to see your kid illustrated and infused into Bastunia?

Project Update: "Becc the Brave & Ceith the Curious" - an Unfound Children's Viking Adventure, begins soon

Dillon and his wife, Morgan, had a baby last year named Keith.

Their friends, the Wagners, had their baby around the same time, named Beckett.

Adorable kids.

Being the attentive parents they are, Beckett's bravery and Keith's curiosity stood out. Because there are hundreds of children's stories whose stakes are no higher than "Will the baby stand?", they went to work on something special. Something different. Something inspired by their favorite works, while maintaining its originality.

"Calvin and Hobbes" showcased a different kid of story. One that takes place through the lens of the child as they are discovering the world. To Calvin, Hobbes is a real tiger. And to Becc and Ceith, their infantile Callings are fearsome beasts! The mundane, to two young adventurers uninitiated with the secrets of the world, can provide a wild test of their mettle, and of their friendship!

And any story told in the stylings of Evan Winston, our gifted Illustrategist, is bound to be rich with detail. With touches of How to Train Your Dragon & Studio Ghibli's Miyazaki (Spirited Away, Ponyo), this is a tale you cannot miss!

About the Story:
Becc the Brave & Ceith the Curious are two young beastborns in Year 90. We're in the time of Order, an epoch of great riches and wonderful expansion throughout Bastunia. Yet there remains a lot unknown about their world....and these two youngsters will find themselves in the thick of it. With only the other to rely on, follow Becc & Ceith on a story of bravery, of discovery, and of dear friendship!
