Backerkit is a crowdfunding platform similar to Kickstarter and Indiegogo. It is a way for you to help an artist, creator, inventor, or dreamer bring a project to life. Many projects are held back due to up-front costs such as manufacturing, and crowdfunding is a way to help fund those costs. Without amazing people like you, projects like this and many others would never be brought to life!
π²How Does Payment Work?π²
Backerkit works on a pledge now, pay later basis. If the project fails to become fully funded for the initial goal, you are not charged for it. If the campaign hits its goal, you will be charged after its conclusion for your initial pledge and add-ons. During the survey, you will be charged shipping. Until the campaign ends, you can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your pledge.
π How Do I Pick My Rewards? π
Once the campaign concludes, and if it is fully funded, then surveys will be sent out. During these surveys, you will be able to make final add-ons and select your pins and other pledged rewards. Surveys are also important because they supply me with your shipping details. No information collected will be distributed outside of its sole purpose of making sure your rewards are given to you.
π¦ Why am I being charged again in the survey? π¦
The survey is where both the additional cost of add-ons as well as shipping are calculated. You are not being charged for your pledge again, but are paying for any added items and the cost of shipping. If your payment failed during the first round of collections, you can also resolve that payment problem during the survey.
This project is one that I've been thinking about for over a year! I origionally considered doing it for Pintopia 2025, but felt like the designs needed to be worked over more. Over the summer, I considered releasing them for Pin Quest, but they still felt like they where yet to attend a final form. Now with Pintopia 2026, these pins are finally ready to be released after 3 complete redesigns!
The Pin Details:
* Each Pin is it's own size so that the collection looks good together. On their longest side, with two-three backing posts for stability, gold-plated, and glitter in the body to emulate stars!
Campaign launches as part of Pintopia! January 23rd - February 13

Production. A lot of time is added here in case tariffs or trade negotiations need to be resolved, which might take an extra month or two. If items are received sooner, grading starts sooner! This is also in case production is slowed or if there are pin errors.

Hello Everyone! I'm Dakota, the artist and creator behind Wayward Enigma Designs. I love drawing, playing video games, and learning more about he world through documentaries.
What made you become an artist? I'm a stage 4 cancer survivor and find that this experience changed how I view and interact with the world. It was always my dream to do art, I even attempted to go to art school before leaving for personal reasons to study business instead. Although my love of art never went away. After my diagnosis, I promised myself I'd work for my dreams if I survived. And I did! My art business is a promise to myself, and a way to send my art all over the world! So if anything ever happens, I can leave the world knowing I left an artistic handprint behind.
Did you go to art school? I did for one semester, but due to personal reasons left, so I moved back home and studied business instead.
Do you do art full-time? I wish, and one day I hope to. For now, I work in fiscal services by day and work on my art at night and weekends!
Do you go to events? I do! In 2025, I did and will do many events in Illinois. In 2026, I'll be flying further than I ever have before!
What are your socials? I'm going to start posting more in the future!
