They're at our side, our joys, our smiles, but many of them cross the rainbow bridge. These pins are meant to bring us closer to those who where loss, and help save more animals in the future!
Backerkit is a crowdfunding platform similar to Kickstarter and Indigogo. It is a way for you, to help an artist, creator, inventor, or dreamer bring a project to life. Many projects are held back due to the up-front cost such as manufacturing, and crowdfunding is a way to help fund those costs. Without amazing people like you, projects like this and many others would never be brought to life!
π²How Does Payment Work?π²
Backerkick works on a pledge now, pay later basis. If the project fails to become fully funded for the initial goal, then you are not charged for it. If the campaign hits its goal, then you will be charged after its conclusion for your initial pledge and add-ons, during the survey you will be charged shipping. Until the campaign ends you can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your pledge.
π How Do I Pick My Rewards? π
Once the campaign concludes, and if it is fully funded, then surveys will be sent out. During these surveys, you will be able to make final add-ons and select your pins and other pledged rewards. Surveys are also important because they supply me with your shipping details. No information collected will be distributed outside of it's sole use to make sure your rewards make it to you.
π¦ Why am I being charged again in the survey? π¦
The survey is both where the additional cost of add-ons as well as shipping are calculated. You are not being charged for your pledge again, but are paying for any added items and the cost of shipping. If your payment failed during the first round of collections, you can also resolve that payment problem during the survey too.
This project was born from a love of animals, mythos, and pins!
Since ancient times, animal (or spirit) guides have been widely believed in, prayed to, and honored. While people sometimes think of spirit guides as a great beast like a tiger, I personally like the myth of our beloved pets being guides. Fulfilling a duty across the rainbow bridge!
The lanterns they carry break through even the darkest clouds or fog, ensuring a safe journey into the spirit world for others!
This project is the first step in a huge donation effort! More can be learned in the "Shelter Helpers" section!
Commissions will be completed after the campaign. I will contact you for photos of your pet. Markings and features may be simplified to match the style. Donβt want a ghost? Live commission stickers can also be done!
In The Future, Every Pin Sold Will Donate $5 to animal shelters and/or rescues on a quarterly basis! In addition, it is my further goal to also reach out to special shelters and/or rescues and donate some pins directly to the facilities to sell on their own for 100% profit to those facilities! So a pledge here is a step toward making these future donations a reality!
Why It's Personal To Me:
As some of you may know, I actually have a shelter dog! Her name is Loralei, and I adopted her as a puppy. When she came to the shelter I got her from, she had a long list of health problems (Some of which she still deals with today). But the shelter was able to onboard all of her first medical costs, including spaying, shots, parvo treatments, and more, because of donations! I was able to pre-adopt her during treatment and eventually fully adopt her. Without donations, pets like Loralei most likely would have been put down due to how unlikely anyone would be to adopt sick animals, or the lack of quality of life due to delayed treatments.
I continued to volunteer at my local shelter up until my cancer diagnosis. Now that I'm in remission, I've been able to volunteer there again. But knowing how much money it takes to fund facilities that change lives is what inspired me to do this project!
The first shelter I intend to donate to, and send them extra pins for their sale purposes, is my local Animal Protection League! The very facility where I volunteer, and where I met Loralei!

Hello Everyone! I'm Dakota, the artist and creator behind Wayward Enigma Designs. I love drawing, playing video games, and learning more about he world through documentaries.
What made you become an artist? I'm a stage 4 cancer survivor and find that this experience changed how I view and interact with the world. It was always my dream to do art, I even attempted to go to art school before leaving for personal reasons to study business instead. Although my love of art never went away. After my diagnosis, I promised myself I'd work for my dreams if I survived. And I did! My art business is a promise to myself, and a way to send my art all over the world! So if anything ever happens, I can leave the world knowing I left an artistic handprint behind.
Did you go to art school? I did for one semester, but due to personal reasons left, so I moved back home and studied business instead.
Do you do art full-time? I wish, and one day I hope to. For now, I work in fiscal services by day and work on my art at night and weekends!
Do you go to events? I do! In 2025, I did and will do many events in Illinois. In 2026, I hope to slowly expand to further shows!
