The first stretch goal for Doors of Dimensia: if the campaign passes $1250, I will make full system stat block conversions for a few popular systems I like. Currently, there are guidelines and advice on how to convert from one system to another, but I'd like to do that work for you, and include it all in the digital bundle along with the PDF. Current contenders are: Troika!, Cloud Empress, His Majesty the Worm, and Fabula Ultima.
You can find a poll for which systems I'm interested at the bottom of this post.
Also!
Don't forget that if you back BOTH Doors of Dimensia AND Dead Internet Theory you get an additional THIRD crossover work I'm tentatively calling Doors to the Dead Internet internally. I appreciate everyone who's already backed both! Our current rate is on the higher end for Zinetopia overall, which is hella dope. Here's a rough mockup of a spread I put together yesterday.
Big thank you to everyone who believes in this project! This is the fastest any of my projects have funded, and I'm very pleased. My wife and I are celebrating by watching Gachiakuta, lol. It's got me thinking about what the next book will be. The whole trash world concept is so good.
Be on the lookout for a stretch goal announcement in the next week as well as the collab project with Dead Internet Theory.
I put up a poll about battlemaps recently. As is, Doors of Dimensia doesn't really include any, but recently a dear friend let me borrow Magical Industrial Revolution by Skerples and seeing the sample battlemaps in it got me thinking. Should I include some? I'm on the fence. On one hand, DoD is kinda antithetical to mapping out physical space by design. Dimensia folds space, stretches it out and bucks the dungeon crawl vibe nearly completely. I also don't know how much it would balloon the page count and affect my ability to hand assemble the zines like I originally intended. On the other, I could see sample maps for locations really adding some depth to the locations. A GM's mind is trained to look at a floor plan and get their creative juices flowing. I blame Andrew Kolb's Wonderland in part. The battlemaps in the book fuck in the highest order.
So I put the question to you, dear backers. Should I put some battlemaps in Dimensia?
Again, blown away by the support for this project. There were 22 orders for the Early Bird Special. You can see all the bookmarks I made below. Each is a one of a kind, but has sibling bookmarks if they were cut from the same piece of art.
Probably gonna check out for a while for mental health reasons. I'll be back to make a bigger update next week that focuses on the collab project between Doors of Dimensia and Dead Internet Theory. We've been talking shop about what that will look like, and I'm pretty stoked for it (I think it'll have art from Roque Romero - hella hype).
The Early Bird Special ends today at 1PM! With just over 20 backers at a physical tier, we're already at a point in which I'm gonna need to make some more bookmarks. I hope y'all enjoy them. There's still some part of me that is terrified of cutting drawings out of my sketchbook, but it's also dope that the OG sketches will live in the books of the project's backers. Some of the next batch will have to come out of my gridded notebooks that I do my game design in like the one pictured below. (Disregard this analog facsimile of a @ziobrando skeet).
Very grateful for the support the campaign has gotten so far. If this keeps up, I'm really gonna have to ponder up some stretch goals. I was thinking of doing some full system conversions for all the creatures and traps that would live in the downloadable/printable files in the digital package. Would anyone benefit from that? It's probably about 25ish stat blocks that I can put into the different systems listed like OSE, Fabula Ultima, Troika, etc.
And 60% funded by day 3! This is by far the fastest growing campaign I've ever had!
