Below are notes on some of the NEW Content by John Goodenough! 

Sometimes it’s easy to see who is going to win in Valley of the Kings. Since tombs are public knowledge, you can figure out how many points each opponent has. With bonus scoring cards, the outcome of the game will be in doubt until final scoring occurs. If you choose to use bonus scoring cards in your game, you will deal out three to each player, and each player will pick one to keep. This will be their secret goal. It might give extra points for entombed cards that cost 4 gold, or for having lots of starter cards in their tomb. If you like surprise endings, try the new bonus scoring cards.

Valley of the Kings: Ultimate Edition contains a set of twenty event cards. The events affect all players; they change the rules of game to make things easier (Blessings) or harder (Plagues).

The gods and goddesses of Egypt provide Blessings that may allow you two “free entombs” each turn or allow you to draw a 6-card hand for example.

The Plagues are inspired by the ten biblical plagues of Egypt – the afflictions brought down by Moses upon Pharaoh. The Plagues may force all players to sacrifice cards or require that new cards in the pyramid be placed hidden face down for example.

Although you may use the event cards in any way you wish, we recommend that you shuffle a Blessing into the first half of the stock (level 2 cards) and a Plague into the second half (level 3 cards). When a new event is revealed, it cancels the effect of the previous event. Players are free to shuffle in multiple Blessings if they want an easier game or more Plagues if they want to increase the game's difficulty.
