✨What exactly is Witch Way Familiars?
- It’s a community of mystical creatures with magical abilities that co-exist to take care of each other. Each plushie that is designed is based on a character illustration that I’ve drawn.
✨What creatures exist in the Witch Way Familiars world?
- While dragons are particularly the focus at the moment, there are also new characters in the works such as fairy cattle and penairy’s (penguin fairies). More designs will be created in the near future!
✨Why is the world of Witch Way special?
- All of the illustrations I’ve made are based on elements taken from my own life that I value and passionately believe in. These values include but are not limited to showcasing empathy and compassion for others, bringing awareness to invisible illnesses, exhibiting diversity, presenting new ideas, challenging societal expectations, learning how to find oneself, developing courage and kindess, etc. All of these concepts, I feel, are extremely vital to the continual growth we all experience as human beings and therefore are key themes in my artwork.
✨Who is the artist behind Witch Way?
- Hello world 👋 My name is Kat Cote, and I am the owner, illustrator, and designer of WWFs. I have been an artist for a majority of my life and went to school for fine art. My love for all things artistic allowed me to explore different avenues until I discovered my passion for illustration.
Growing up, I always enjoyed submerging myself in fairytales which turned into being fond of fantasy novels and series’s as an adult. Some of my favorite stories have been the Lord of the Rings, Eragon, A Court of Thorns and Roses, Inkheart, Game of Thrones, Outlander, the Witcher, etc. Needless to say, my mind is always filled to the brim with fantastical ideas that never cease as a result of all this inspiration.
So where do the plushies come into play? As you can probably guess, playing make believe as a child was a great source of entertainment for me and my sisters. We always had a tremendous amount of fun with our stuffed animals and dolls that left a lasting impression on me. And now, as a mom myself, I have been able to watch my daughter delve into the same style of play that I once loved.
My daughter, therefore, has been such a big influence in the characters I have created and then decided to have made into plushies. She has told me what she wishes I could add to them, what she doesn’t like about them, or what I could improve on. Her opinions matter to me greatly, because she provides me with a worldview that reminds me that magic can be found in daily life. Something I always cherish ❤️
