Project Update: Finally some good news :)
Hello everyone,
Finally, some really good news!
I’m excited to share that I’m shifting back to fulfilling orders myself. This is a huge step forward. It immediately cuts down the biggest ongoing costs around storage and shipping and gives me direct control again, which means the project can start moving forward in a much simpler, more hands-on way.
When 78 Tarot was smaller, I handled fulfillment myself. As it grew, that became too much to manage alongside being a full-time mother, which is why we moved to a fulfillment center. Being able to return to self-fulfillment now feels like coming back to the heart of how this all began and allows me to move forward steadily and sustainably.
Looking ahead, my goal is to move printing to the United States. U.S. printing is more expensive and doesn’t offer the same bells and whistles as overseas production, so current projects still in production overseas and future editions may have simpler packaging than the elaborate boxes we’ve done in the past. While that’s a shift, it brings much-needed stability and reliability, especially right now.
In the past, we worked with a printer in China because it allowed us to keep costs lower and pay our artists more. One of the challenges of overseas production is that recovering funds can be difficult, which is part of what I’m navigating as I make careful, forward-looking decisions.
Most importantly, thank you. Your patience, encouragement, and belief in 78 Tarot truly mean everything to me. Even in uncertain times, I’m not giving up. I’m committed to seeing this through and moving forward with care, gratitude, and determination.
Thank you so much for being here. I’m incredibly grateful.

PROJECT UPDATE
Project Update: Monthly Project Update
Hello everyone,
This is the scheduled monthly update.
Production for this project remains paused due to current U.S. import tariffs, which continue to make manufacturing financially unviable. There has been no change in tariff conditions since the last update, and I do not have the personal funds to move forward under current costs.
I want to address communication as well. While questions are understandable, repeated pressure, hostile comments, or personal attacks are not acceptable and do not change the situation. This project is being handled responsibly, and harassment will not speed up production.
I am actively monitoring conditions and will move forward as soon as manufacturing becomes viable. There is no new information to share at this time.
The next update will be posted next month, or sooner if circumstances change.
Thank you to those who continue to communicate respectfully and patiently.
Kayti

PROJECT UPDATE
Project Update: Honest update: tariffs, shutdown, and next steps
Dear friends,
Right now we are still in a holding pattern because of the tariffs. A U.S. appeals court recently ruled that most of the Trump-era tariffs were not legal, but it delayed that decision from taking effect until October 14, 2025 while the case goes to the Supreme Court. Until the Court rules, the tariffs are still in place and everything I need to ship remains stuck in this uncertainty.
On top of that, the government could shut down as soon as tomorrow if Congress cannot agree on a budget, which would add even more delays.
Here is what I want you to know:
- Since the tariffs have destroyed 78 Tarot as we know it, I have had to pivot and throw myself into something new in order to keep moving forward.
- I even attempted to work out a set tariff price with my printer, based on the uncertainty of whether tariffs would even remain at 30 percent, but I was unable to get an agreement. Costs remain unpredictable until the legal situation is resolved.
- As you may know, I have two small children. They take up most of my days, but in the time I carve out I have been working hard to create a path forward.
- The best solution I could come up with is raising money in the only way I know how that feels truly fair. I opened a print-on-demand shop with my art on mugs, shirts, and hoodies. Nothing is made until it is ordered, which means there is no waste, no storage costs, and it is better for the environment. This approach also ensures I never have to manufacture or store inventory again.
- You can check it out here: www.littleshopofkindness.com.
- Del, the AD and co-founder who I have worked closely with for a decade, has also had to pivot since 78 Tarot has stopped. If you want to support her new ventures, you can follow her Facebook for her sales.

She has such cute things, and of course I picked up a few for myself.
Most importantly, I want to thank you so much for hanging in there not just with me but with all the creators who have found themselves in this position. We appreciate every single bit of support you are giving us right now, and we will absolutely repay the kindness. I will update you again soon as I make progress and know more.
With gratitude,
Kayti

Project Update: Quick Update on the Progress we are Making
Hi everyone,
I wanted to give you a quick update.
Right now tariffs are at 30% until at least November. That means I will need around $9,000 just to cover the customs fees to bring the decks into New York. This does not include production or shipping costs, which have already been handled.
I am also talking with our printer about the possibility of putting a contract in place that would cap my responsibility at the current 30% rate, even if tariffs go higher. At this point it is only a discussion, but I am doing everything I can to find some stability.

I have poured everything I have, time, energy, and money, into keeping 78 Tarot going, and I will continue to do so for as long as I am able. Summer is always slow for small businesses, but this one has been especially difficult for Etsy sellers like us.
I know delays are frustrating, and I truly appreciate your patience. This has been one of the hardest challenges I have faced, and it has taken a real toll. Anyone who knows me knows I always deliver, often even early, so this situation has been extremely tough for me.
I will continue to keep you updated, and I will share news as soon as I hear back from the printer.
Thank you again to everyone who has shown kindness and support. It means the world and truly keeps me moving forward.
With gratitude,
Kayti
