Holiday Update!
Season's Greetings!
Just wanted to touch base on a few items. Tomorrow I'll be traveling out of state for the holidays so there likely won't be any updates until after I re...
As we’re approaching the end of March, I wanted to fill you in on what’s been happening.
Looks like my original projection of fulfillment taking place in March was wrong. But not by much!
First off, layout is done and the first (and hopefully last) test print has been ordered! Assuming there are no issues after reviewing it, the full order for the zines should be placed shortly after.
2-Page Spread. "The Strange Beast" has been renamed "The Titan".
The Mini-Hatchling Figurines are taking a bit longer than projected. Because they’re being cast in a garage with limited temperature control, it’s been too chilly in olde New York to get things cranking. Luckily, the weather has been warming up so we’re preparing to do our final casts in the coming weeks. While we’ve been waiting, Rob has been gracious enough to polish the master sculpts to ensure we aren’t getting the irregularities that plagued a few of the test batches.
Touched-Up Master Sculpts
By the time those are painted up, the full order of the books should be in and shipping can commence! So we’re now looking at getting things sent out by the end of April, which in hindsight seems a much more appropriate month for an egg-themed zine.
You’ll likely be receiving notifications from BackerKit announcing that orders and shipping addresses have been locked (you’ll still be able to change your shipping address afterwards if you need to). On Friday, March 28 cards will be charged for any add-ons you may have purchased on your surveys.
We’re almost there! Thank you so much for your patience and have a happy spring.
Long time no see! I apologize for the radio silence but a lot's been happening. I spent a bit globetrotting for my job, contracted bronchitis, and got to make the first casts for the Mini-Hatchling figurines!
We were generally happy with the results but did notice a few small issues. Some of the figurines had consistent bubbles appearing (you'll see the Strange Beast, our tiger-like friend, has a notch in their ear as a result of one). We're revisiting their molds to address the issue.
Still, very excited to see an army of my little freaks come to life. We still believe we're on track to get the rewards out in March (likely late March). The zine itself is mostly complete, just waiting on adding our lovely guest artist's contributions before sending it off to the printers.
Thanks so much for your patience! As always, I'll keep you updated and try to avoid another long period of silence.
First off, 86% of you have completed your surveys! That means I'm still missing 9 of you. Remember, you cannot receive your rewards if your survey is not completed so please get that filled out asap!
In more exciting news: our first molds for the Mini-Hatchlings have been made! Here are some pics of the process.

Another big thanks to Rob of Pineapple Creations for the guidance and help getting these together. Follow him on Instagram for more pics and to see what the molds look like after they've solidified and been extracted.
We should have the first casts done sometime this week, so stay tuned!
Hope you've all nursed your holiday hangovers and are easing back into reality.
As of this writing, 83% of you have completed your BackerKit surveys. Nice work!
That means I'm only missing 12 of you! As a reminder, surveys are used to confirm orders and collect shipping information. I've made the mistake of assuming they were the "Rate your experience from 1 to 10" kind of survey in the past. They're not. You will not receive your rewards if your survey is not completed, so please complete them ASAP!
Mini-Hatchling Update: After meeting up with Rob of Pineapple Creations, we found a few further tweaks had to be made to my Mini-Hatchlings sculpts to optimize the casting process. The only significant change is The Mimic, which was resculpted in a sitting pose.
Today we've acquired the materials to start making molds! It's a bit too cold in old New York today to start but the hope is to do our first test run soon.
As a heads up, I'll be traveling for work starting January 15th so updates and other correspondence might be a bit slow until after I return on the 24th.
As always, I'll continue posting updates as they come.
