Project Update: In response to your requests, we're extending the pre-order period. And what's more, we're introducing the Ranger!
In response to your many requests, we're extending the pre-order period until 31 August! Don't forget that you can add items to your existing pledge!
And because good things come in threes, here's a new illustration. You were interested in the Ranger, weren't you? So here's her story and her new illustration, conceptualised and created by William Bonhotal!
META-ARMOUR - RANGER
‘It's very difficult to talk about the Ranger armour without mentioning the Longbow rifle that accompanies it. In fact, whereas most meta-armour is created for a very specific need in the field, to perform a function requiring special, often unprecedented, skills, the Ranger armour was designed around one weapon, the polymorphic polycalibre Longbow rifle. Invented by Merlin himself following the death of several knights during the siege of an outpost by colossal creatures from the Anathema, the Longbow rifle is designed to take down the biggest enemies and wipe packs of abominations off the map, all from any distance. The Ranger meta-armour and the Longbow rifle are, in fact, a single piece of machinery that combines the power and precision of an anti-material rifle with the versatility needed by those operating in the territories of Anathema.
Basically, an anti-materiel rifle is an oversized weapon designed to fire heavy machine-gun and anti-aircraft cannon ammunition from a secure position, far from its target. However, a knight in Ranger armour is likely to encounter opponents on narrow battlefields where such a cumbersome rifle is unusable. The Longbow rifle compensates for this problem by being perfectly modifiable in terms of size and calibre, in just a few seconds.
In appearance, the Ranger meta-armour is Rogue armour on which the armour plates have been reduced to just 3 centimetres in order to lighten the load on the wearer, as the Longbow rifle is already very heavy. On the back of the armour, a reliable and well-protected alpha energy reactor supplies all the systems with energy.
A particular feature of the Ranger armour is that it houses nanomachine reservoirs and is connected to the Longbow rifle by armoured tubes where a liquid loaded with materials and nanomachines circulates through all parts of the rifle via a hollow telescopic frame, rather like a blood system. The nanomachines change the calibre of the weapon on command and assemble the ammunition according to predefined patterns. The rifle's scope and the armour's sensors collect a great deal of radiation to locate the enemy and analyse the projectile's trajectory despite the weather and obstacles (trees, concrete, metal, etc.).A small but important piece of information is that the computer built into the armour calculates the trajectory of the ammunition very precisely, up to a range of 3 km.
The Longbow can assemble several types of ammunition, depending on the calibre. Light ammunition, with or without flash, tracking or non-tracking, to avoid being spotted, simple armour-piercing uraniums, with explosive cores or offensive nanomachines, and so on. Obviously, all these technologies are expensive in terms of energy, but they enable the Ranger to deal with the vast majority of situations’.
