BackerKit FAQ
How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.
To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.
All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.
Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.
Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.
When will I be charged for my pledge?
Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.
What happens after the campaign is over?
The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.
Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.
Project FAQ
When will you ship?
We plan to ship in August 2025.
Is shipping included?
No — shipping is charged separately, after the campaign, in the pledge manager.
How much is shipping?
No matter how much you order, there's just one flat-rate shipping fee depending on your location. Visit the shipping section of the main page for estimates.
When is shipping charged?
After the campaign, we’ll set up a pledge manager where backers can manage their orders and pay for shipping — the pledge manager will stay open until June 30.
Where do you ship?
Pretty much worldwide! We ship to the US, EU, Canada, Australia, and most other places. Sadly, we can’t ship to Afghanistan, Equatorial Guinea, Belarus, Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Falkland Islands, Iraq, Iran, Isle of Man, Yemen, Kazakhstan, Democratic Republic of the Congo, North Korea, Cuba, Lebanon, Libya, Mali, Myanmar, Nauru, Niger, Niue, Russia, São Tomé and Príncipe, Zimbabwe, Somalia, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Sudan, Syria, Tristan da Cunha, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and the Central African Republic at the moment.
Can I send coins to multiple addresses?
Right now, we ship all coins from one pledge to a single address. If you’d like to gift a coin to someone else, we recommend making a separate pledge for each recipient.
Are there tariffs for U.S. backers?
Yes, but right now they’re baked into our prices. Currently, the relevant duties for EU goods entering the U.S. are 10%. As long as they stay under 20% at the time of fulfillment, you won’t pay anything extra. If they go higher, we’ll cover part and collect the rest in the pledge manager before shipping. AlpenCrowd will never ship anything with surprise fees due on delivery.
Is this project affected by tariffs on goods from China?
Nope – the coins are made in Austria and not affected by tariffs on Chinese goods.
What about VAT or other fees for EU backers?
Nope – all included. EU backers get an EU invoice, no import hassle!
Are there any additional charges for backers?
Apart from shipping? Nope.
Does the coin come with a pouch?
Yes! It comes with a small pouch to keep it safe.
Does the coin include a guide?
Yes! A small guide card is included. It explains the meaning of the Sun and Moon sides, how to use the coin in your readings, and a few simple rituals to get started.
What are the exact dimensions of the coin?
38 mm (1.5 inches) in diameter and 3 mm (0.12 inches) thick.
Why wood?
Wood is a natural material that feels warm and connects to nature (and paper). Metal is cold—and kind of smells weird.
Will my coin look exactly like the photos?
Not exactly — and that’s the beauty of it. Each coin is made from real wood, and the grain pattern makes every piece one of a kind.
Can I engrave something other than my birthdate?
Yes, any date that matters to you!
Can I engrave something other than a date?
Not at the moment—just dates.
Can I engrave something other than a zodiac sign?
Right now, only zodiac signs are available.
How do I care for the coin?
Wipe it with a damp cloth and store it somewhere dry. If it gets wet, let it breathe so it doesn’t trap moisture.
How do you assure quality?
Every coin is hand-checked before it’s sent out.
What is your return policy?
Before June 30, you can email us for a refund. For Stargazer and Wanderer coins (the non-personalized ones), we offer a full no-questions-asked refund within 14 days of delivery. Just give us a heads up (so we know whom to refund) and send us the coin back. For the Pathfinder coin, which is personalized and made to order, we’ll offer a refund or replacement if it arrives damaged or the engraving doesn’t match what you submitted.
