Well... the Nays have it. Honestly, the vote was super close, we lost by 3 votes, and even though I'm disappointed and I was a little disheartened for a bit, we'll go with the majority. Only 97 people out of 427 backers chose to vote and help us decide. So thank you for participating.
I've made this type of pin before, in a nearly identical way, and honestly, they were one of my most popular pins, but this is a different factory (glitter and techniques differ between factories), and a different crowd, and I get that this was new way of doing rainbow metal for a lot of backers and made people nervous or unsure. So I'll have to chalk it up to a teachable moment, and not do this unless I'm funding it myself. 😅
For the Dragon, I've given the factory the approval to proceed with clear epoxy without glitter. It's moving forward, and we can't change anything at this point. (See pictures from the previous update for an example.)
But for the Unicorn, I have asked for a sample to see whether they can successfully cover the black enamel paint with white, so that the bones will at least give contrast. I'm trying to cover as many concerns as I can, but there are more than 400 of you and there's one design, so this is the path currently for this pin... and if it's successful, we'll move forward with the rest like this, so that we can have them shipped here before the holiday rush.
I have been hyper fixated on this issue for the past 7 days, so I can finally breathe a little better now that there's a way forward....
