Explore an adventure like no other before it. Challenge your players to solve the puzzle cube before delving into the crypt of Lazlo the Lich. With enough funding, we will invite other writers to make more adventures for every tier of play.
Explore an adventure like no other before it. Challenge your players to solve the puzzle cube before delving into the crypt of Lazlo the Lavish. The adventure can be run with or without the cube so that parties lacking a Puzzle Cube enthusiast can still enjoy the challenge.
The main adventure is also a series of puzzles, fights, and challenges wherein player characters need to find Lazlo and defeat him to save the world from the evil he seeks to wreak. With enough funding, we will invite other writers to make more adventures using the same cube for every tier of play, so you can incorporate the cube in your adventure as soon as it is within your grasp.

We realize that a Black & White Cube is quite the challenge mode, so we are happy to offer options! Backers can choose whether to invest in a Black & White Puzzle Cube, a Cube with Colors, or get both with Add-ons.
And because we want our backers to be part of the process, we're letting you vote on the color design! Do you want a simple border in color to help you find your way through the puzzle? Or would you rather enjoy the full color option? Let us know by voting in the Backer poll. The option with the most votes by the end of the campaign will be the winner!

Lazlo's Cubed Crypt
An image of a lich holding a puzzle cube with a monster fighting against two adventurers. One is hanging off the edge. Art by Erin Anderson. Words say Lazlo's Cubed Crypt. There is a logo of a black and blue dragon in the bottom right.
Lazlo's Cubed Crypt is a level 12 adventure for Dungeons & Dragons 5e.
Lazlo the Lavish was once a particularly silver-tongued advisor to many nobles and royal courts. For decades he amassed power and favors before attempting to wrest control of several nations for himself. After starting several civil wars, he became a lich and utilized his powers of enchantment and necromancy to keep the turmoil going indefinitely. He was eventually defeated, but as his phylactery was never found, he will return. Centuries have passed, and rumors abound that Lazlo has been found with his phylactery resting in the same crypt.
The crypt, however, is little more than a façade, and adventurers will be transported to a demiplane of Lazlo's own twisted make. Within that realm, they will encounter a space that defies conventional geometry and cannot be mapped in any manner of traditional logic.

Printed books will be available via DriveThruRPG's print-on-demand services. Backers will receive their copy of Lazlo's Cubed Crypt once the books are ready. We will collect shipping addresses via BackerKit survey. For PDF copies, the email used should be the same as their DriveThruRPG and/or DMsGuild account.
Lazlo's Cubed Crypt is just the start! After our initial funding goal, we plan to keep adding to the book.
We have a list of amazing writers lined up to add their own adventures that allow you to use the cube at different tiers of play
Dungeons & Dragons not your jam? We have a goal to convert Lazlo's Cubed Crypt and all unlocked adventures to Pathfinder 2E so you can choose your system
Want a cube with endless map possibilities? We have dreams of offering geomorphic cubes as add-ons. Help us get there!
Once we fund, we'll share more about our stretch goals, but here is a preview of our first four goals.
Stretch Goal: Level 1 Adventure by Alan Tucker
Stretch Goal: Level 2-3 Adventure by Morgan Eilish
Nathan Doyle has been playing Dungeons and Dragons since he was but an 8-year-old wee-lad in the basement room that was his older half-brother's. The first character was a fighter with a flail. Why a flail? Because the previous summer he went to Medieval Times in California and the green knight had a flail and that was cool. To this day, nobody remembers the name of that fighter. Starting in second edition, he kept playing 2e up until the senior year of high school when 3rd edition came out. That was when Nathan first started mastering the dungeons and really putting the creative touch onto things.
Flash forward to 2019, Nathan then starts to actually write and market products for 5th edition and selling them on the DMsGuild as well as contributing to other people's projects en masse. And that brings him here today.

Printed books will be available via DriveThruRPG's print-on-demand services. Backers will receive their copy of Lazlo's Cubed Crypt once the books are ready. If you ordered a PDF copy, your email address should be the same used to sign up for DriveThruRPG and/or the DMsGuild.
Tariffs
The current situation on U.S. tariffs is filled with uncertainty. Our cubes are manufactured in Canada, so our US backers may have some additional costs incurred. We go more into detail in Risks and Challenges. Hopefully, the situation is resolved prior to fulfillment.
The U.S. tariff situation is in flux and quite uncertain. Our cube manufacturer is in Canada, so we will be keeping a close eye on the situation as we draw closer to fulfillment. We are not including the price of the tariffs in our pledge tiers, as that is unfair to backers in other countries. Instead, any additional fees incurred may be included in the shipping charges.
How Much Will Tariffs Cost? As of April 22, 2025, the U.S. tariff on Canadian goods is 25%. For countries outside the U.S., you shouldn't have an additional tariff (though things can change). You’ll still have your country’s VAT (equivalent of the US’ sales tax), but no tariff duties. If you’re in the U.S., tariffs are applied to the manufacturing cost of the product. That’s typically 10-20% of the product’s MSRP. So, if you back the $65 book and cube combo tier, and the cube costs $20 to manufacture, the tariff duties will be 0.25 × $20.00 = $5.00.
Canada: The cubes are manufactured in Canada and will be fulfilled to our Canadian backers from the same company. The books, however, are printed in the U.S. As of April 22, 2025, there are no Canadian tariffs on books from the U.S. This can, unfortunately, change. If it does so, we will treat these the same way and charge tariffs as close to shipping time as possible.
When Will This Be Charged? Tariffs get ‘locked in’ at the time the goods clear customs at the destination port. We will wait until after we know what the costs are to charge both shipping and tariffs. We're crossing our fingers that this will be resolved before fulfillment.
Timeline
The nature of a project like this is that the more successful we are, the more time we'll need to finish creating it! The main adventure, Lazlo's Cubed Crypt is already written. It just needs to undergo Sensitivity Consulting, Editing, and Layout, and it will be good to go. Hitting stretch goals means more adventures! But this, of course, means we'll need to add additional time for all of our amazing team members to write their own stories into the adventure. While the writing stage for these extra adventures can overlap, the reviews and edits won't overlap as much due to the size of the team. We will offer a better estimate on timing once we see how many stretch goals we unlock.
As for the cubes, our manufacturer will be able to start making the cubes as soon as we place an order. The total time will again depend on how many cubes are ordered, but we aim to get them all made within a few months. Again, we'll provide a better estimate once we have better ideas of numbers.
That all being said, we’ve seen over the past few years that shipping and printing tend to be delayed everywhere. We’re trying to build in ample time in case of any logistical delays, but things are always changing. In the event of an unavoidable setback, we’ll do our best to communicate with backers immediately.
