Lots to celebrate here at Jaunty Goblin HQ! We zoomed past the midpoint goal of the campaign just when July rolled around, and our layout editor gave us a look at the wonderful work she's done formatting the first twelve chapters of the book. Better yet, a few clues from a deep dive into BackerKit's toolset suggests we're reaching far more people than we ever anticipated.
We stand at $1353 with thirteen days left in the campaign, and the majority of backers are folks who laid eyes on the project for the first time in June. If a third of the project followers from our original mailing list hop on board the Chancers campaign in the home stretch, we should have no trouble meeting our fundraising goal!
Today I'm working on the chapter on Secrets, lore that experienced Chancers can use to increase their command of magic and work around some of the limitations that tripped up the earliest wielders of chance. Interest in the game has us thinking especially about longevity lately, so we're doing our best to make sure you can have fun in the Drifting Kingdoms for years to come!
And we've saved the best news for last. Your interest in Chancers has us deepening our investment in the game; on June 28th we locked in a new commission for art from Fabled Beast Design and a commission for a new city map from Silver Compass Maps. The book is getting richer and more beautiful by the day, and we can't wait to get it into your hands.
We here at Jaunty Goblin hope you have a great weekend in store, and an especially festive long weekend if you're here in the U.S., and that we all get a reprieve from the heat as we spend time with family and friends doing the things we love.
Today I'm following up on the promise I made on the discussion board the other day, offering a glimpse of the main Chancers mechanics on the Story page. You'll find a new section called "The Shape of the Story (June 25th Update)," where most of the information is consolidated. It closes with an outside link to my home blog and an actual sample from Chancers worked up by my layout designer. I hope the lot fills in some blanks and is easy to read on phones and tablets!
As we head into the first weekend of the campaign, I wanted a) to offer folks some sense of the diversity I've tried to capture in Chancers on the main Story page, and b) to clarify fulfillment information for folks who can't access the FAQ easily on their devices out there as well. I hope it's of some help!
We're off to a rollicking start here at Chancers central! Thank you very much for all the early support!
My wife and a few other wise folk urged me to get a more succinct, information-rich version of the Story section up, a version that emphasized some of the beautiful art I've gathered so far. So you'll find that condensed and more vivid version of the Story if you revisit the page.
I'll continue adding to the FAQ as questions come my way, so keep an eye out for breaking details!
I've just expanded the Story section, so when the campaign for Chancers goes live in a few days, folks will be able to take a good look at what the game has to offer.
Three significant bits are also worth mentioning here. First, I've pushed back the campaign launch date by a single day, to Tuesday, June 16th. That will line it up with the launch of the campaign for The Blue Way, our cross-collab partner,so you'll be able to back both more conveniently if you'd like.
Second, I've also increased the incentive for backing both campaigns to include three Whorl dice, rather than the two I'd announced formerly. That makes better sense in terms of the game rules and gets you a goodlier set to throw for those critical rolls!
And finally, here's a good look at the Damage Dice early bird backers who pledge at a level with physical rewards during the first 48 hours of the campaign will receive with their pledge; you'll receive three of these dice:
