75% funded, Author Interview, How We're Printing the Book, and ONWARD TO 100%!
Hey there!
• We've hit 75% in under 72 hours and that's a great start! Thank you so much those who've been backing &/or sharing the campaign.
• On launch day we had a magni...
"Swords & Socrates" was just one of many great things which came out of our chat.
Keep an eye out for more cool livestreams during the campaign: On Thursday, July 10th at 7pm EST you can join David, Oliver, and a few special guests for a panel discussion of Robert E. Howard's "Beyond the Black River", a classic Sword & Sorcery tale that has more than a few parallels with SOMETIME LOFTY TOWERS!
We're also working hard to set up at least one other cool livestream that we'll announce later...
DON'T FORGET: Backers aren't charged until the end of the campaign, and you won't be charged for shipping until about a month before fulfillment.
There is no better time to get this book than during the crowdfund!
Did you know this book is being traditionally printed? Yup! This allows us to truly produce the book we want to make right down to choosing a type of paper we feel is closest to what you'd find in classic Sword & Sorcery paperbacks from the 60's and 70's, and it's what lets us offer cool stretch goals like spray color edges.
It also lets us pay the author better!
This gets a tad technical but....because royalties are a percentage of the profit on each book, it's better for everybody if we do trad print because once the print run is paid for, each book starts at 100% sticker cost before you start making deductions.
Thus the author royalties are calculated from a higher net profit per book, putting more in their pocket! It also helps increase Brackenbury Books' odds of surviving to keep hiring authors & artists while making more great books for y'all to enjoy.
With POD you're always starting making deductions at less than 100% because there is no print run to pay off - you're paying Amazon or whoever a chunk right off the bat for every copy's printing for all eternity.
So yes, the more we can do traditional printing the better!
In the classic S&S paperback style, the edges of the books pages will be painted a single, vibrant color. Backers will get to choose which color in a special poll!
