BackerKit FAQ
How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.
To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.
All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.
Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.
Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.
When will I be charged for my pledge?
Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.
What happens after the campaign is over?
The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.
Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.
Project FAQ
How Big Is the Box?
10 x 10 x 2 inches! The box I hold in the video is a prototype box made by Game Crafter. They do not offer smaller sizes.
Will POND be available in retail?
Currently Brother Ming Games has no retail presence. If I can get POND into retail, I certainly would. The Backerkit Edition of POND will only be available through this backerkit campaign. The Deluxe Edition of POND might be available on my website IF there is enough funding and interest.
Will VAT be collected?
I am collecting VAT for EU, UK, and AUS customers. Backers from these areas will have their games delivered out of the UK and VAT will be collected up front, meaning packages will be delivered directly to your door step without needing to pay VAT yourself to release your package.
How will I give my name for credit in rulebook?
For those of you who back at the Indie Hero tier, your names will be collected via the pledge manager.
How will shipping addresses be collected for my pledge?
After the campaign ends, a survey, aka Pledge Manager, will be emailed to you. This will collect your shipping address, choices for any items that has options (such as shirt size), and anything else needed for your pledge to be completed.
When will shipping costs be collected?
Shipping costs will only be collected when we are ready to ship the games to you. You will be asked to pay for shipping via the pledge manager when we have all of the games and are ready to ship.
Will there be late pledges after the campaign ends?
Yes, there will be a late pledge store for anyone who misses the campaign. However prices may be raised as we get closer to delivery.
Can I get additional copies of POND?
Yes! You can add additional copies of POND to your pledge via add ons when you go to back the project.
What languages will POND be in?
Currently, English is the only planned language. Any localizations would be handled by a localization company who would collect orders on their own, not through me. I currently only have connections with localization companies in China.
What quality / material are the cards?
Very high quality! I am a card gamer at heart and all of my projects have always featured very high quality card stock. POND will be no exception with 310 GSM black core cards and a smooth glossy poker oil finish.
What size will the cards be?
Standard Euro/Asian poker size: - 63 x 88 mm - 2.48 × 3.46 in
What is your Refund Policy?
Refund requests made after the Kickstarter ends will be approved no questions asked, however only a 85% refund will be given due to fees I cannot recover. Refund requests will not be considered after we have begun the shipping process. If you have ANY issues with your game after receiving it, I will cover the cost of shipping you replacement components or a full replacement copy.
Will you replace components?
If you are missing a part, break a part or lose a part, I will be happy to replace it for you for free. A support form will be widely available and I am always just 1 email away and am also very active on the Brother Ming Games discord server. Shipping will only be covered for the first instance of replacement part requests. This policy will be honored for as long as I am in business which hopefully will be a very long time.
What does it mean to "Back" this project?
When you back a project, you are functionally pre-ordering the product. That means you'll get it once it's produced. Besides getting the product itself, you're also joining a community. Follow along the production process, take part in important surveys and give the creator valuable feedback. The main difference between a crowdfunding campaign and a pre-order is that you will not be charged if the crowdfunding campaign does not reach it's funding goal.
