It is the year without a summer.

A young woman named Mary Godwin – soon to be Mary Shelley – finds herself locked in a house amongst friends & lovers during a raging thunderstorm. When host Lord Byron suggests a scary story contest, he inadvertently resurrects the group’s monstrous interpersonal drama – and sparks something in Mary that will change literature forever.

Become a silent ghost as you follow Mary, Byron, & their fellow Romantic poets through a liminal immersive space, somewhere between the 19th century & the 21st, amidst a maelstrom of creativity, grief, & betrayal.

Disremembrance is an immersive live performance.

Scenes play simultaneously in different spaces. You, in the audience, move as a silent spectre throughout, drifting from room to room with the poets as they play out their messy lives. Each performance, you create your own unique version of the story.

And when the veil between spirit and flesh becomes thin? Then perhaps one of our players will reach through

Halloween Weekend, 2025. Six performances only.

the cell, Disremembrance's Lab Presentation performance space

Disremembrance’s limited-run Lab Presentation will run from October 30th - November 4th, 2025 at the cell in New York City. All shows at 8 PM.

Edit

What is a Lab Presentation?

A peek beneath the shroud. A glimpse into the creator's laboratory. A chance to watch a new creation rise to life.

Consider this the animated bones of the experience that Disremembrance could be. A space, actors, and an audience – nothing more, nothing less. Should we meet with success, the muscle, sinew, skin, & clothing will come later.

This is your opportunity to witness an early version of the show – to say you were there when the creature opened its eye.

We have many trinkets on offer, should you wish to pledge and become a spectre at the villa:

The main event. Pledge as a Playboy, Doctor, Shade, or Poet to receive one ticket to the Disremembrance Lab Presentation. Creators receive two.

Spectres who acquire their ticket as part of a pledge will be able to book their performance date(s) before the general public, as part of an exclusive backer pre-sale.

Poets & Creators will be admitted to the lab before the creature awakens. Pledging at one of these levels entitles you to an open rehearsal invite, to watch our players & playwrights infuse the spark of life into the show.

Spectres shall be called by name. Have yours inscribed on our program & website, and read aloud on video by our players & playwrights in thanks. Will your favorite speak your name?

Should your generosity be such that we exceed our goals, we may find ourselves able to add muscle & sinew to the animated bones of our creation, and enhance your experience. Our goals for excess funds are as follows:

Only you can help us achieve these goals, and elevate Disremembrance’s lab presentation to its highest form.
