Half of the plushies just arrived to us and the cardigans are on their way now! We should have the majority of inventory ready to ship by next month, at which point we will start locking addresses and charging cards for shipping.

The new tariffs on shipments from China will heavily impact many small businesses, including us. A lot of the inventory from this campaign has already been put into production, so we don’t have much of a choice but to pay whatever the tariffs may be… Which are currently at 145%. At the moment there is a 90 day pause on the tariffs. Luckily a majority of the inventory will arrive before then, however there is always the possibility of that changing any day. We honestly have no idea how this is going to turn out, but will try to fulfill this campaign to the best of our abilities! As the situation develops, I will update you about how we are affected and what we will do moving forward.

For backers outside of the US, there is also a possibility of you paying reciprocal tariffs your country places on the US, since that is where we ship from. We will make an update right before fulfillment starts that will list the reciprocal tariffs in each country so you know what to expect before it arrives to you. We will cancel and refund orders at your request, but please only do so if you really need it since this is impacting us financially as well 🥲


Beetle Backpack

After considering your thoughts on the last iteration, I feel like we’ve come to a good compromise! The beetle’s pinchers are much closer to the bag now due to the new D-ring placements. What do you think? This way, we avoid bending the pinchers if they’re unsecured AND that huge gap from last update! We would love to put this bag into production ASAP to try and avoid the incoming tariffs :’)

As stated in last update, we have been revising the PU leather beetle backpack to have a longer lasting and more functional design! The new sample pictures are in: what do we think? (Ignore that the crossbody photo has a slant, that’s just how it’s held in the photo. You could also use the crossbody d-rings on the sides while wearing it backpack style so that there’s less space between the pinchers and the beetle, if you dislike the larger gap.)

Pros: The beetle’s pinchers will no longer bend/fold so easily, meaning a longer lasting design! 

Cons: More spacing between the pinchers and the beetle’s body.

Personally I don’t mind the new look at all, but I want to hear it from the backpack backers! How do you feel about this change? If everyone’s on board, production will begin on this bag ASAP!

We're back with another update!

Where have we been? You may have noticed we've been a bit slow to reply to some emails, it's because we've been moving our business + all inventory across the country along with dealing with some health issues. Chimera Bunny is run by two people, Beedle and Miss Faraday. This past year Faraday developed a chronic degenerative immune system disease, and has not been doing well. Posts and productions have been slowed as a result. However, we're finally getting back on track for the most part. Faraday is now receiving treatment and will be able to work again. Thank you so so much for your patience, but now let's get onto the campaign updates!

Giant millipede plushies have completed production, and are now undergoing quality inspections! All of the plush bags + the chimerabunny plush will be soon to follow. All plush items will most likely be finished ahead of schedule, super exciting!! I'd also like to let you know about a major quality imrpovement to the plush bags! In our last campaign, some batches of bags were more prone to having the straps fall apart. These bags had a single line of stitching, so if one part became unraveled the whole thing would usually go with it. In the NEW batches, we are now using a much stronger stitching pattern! See the image below on the left, this should make these new bags much longer lasting as a result :D

For the PU leather beetle backpack, we have delayed production to create a better and longer lasting design as well. With all our products, we quality test them ourselves. After a bit of daily use on this bag, I noticed that the beetle's pincher attachments would bend out of shape and flop down. Nothing was really there to support their structure, and there was also the concern of the straps bending. So, I've come up with a solution! You can see in the diagram below, we'd like the pinchers to be permanently attached to the straps to give them support. Our manufacturer is currently working on the new version, will share pictures when we have it!
