Faces of the Wild is a softcover book. Cover art by BlueYolk.

A Look Inside Banner

Faces of the Wild features over 100 Wild-themed NPCs, including 10 unique Heroes & Villains with detailed backstories, powerful magic items, and unique stat blocks. You can check out the preview PDF here, which features example NPCs and one of the Heroes you'll find in the book.

Meet the Wilds banner

If you've grown tired of using the same bandit stat block over and over again, our Wilds-themed NPCs are for you! We believe that NPCs should feel unique, and the players should know that they are fighting with unique powers and abilities.

That's why our hunters will fight differently from our bandits. In fact, our hunters don't just share a name; they have distinct combat roles and abilities to challenge your players. Some may prefer to hide in the shadows, sniping with their bows, while other hunters want the glory of the kill and are on the front lines, smashing through monsters (and your adventuring party).

This book launches with over 90 Wild-themed NPCs, organized by role and challenge rating for instant use at your table. And with Stretch Goals poised to add up to 40 more, your campaign's wilderness will be teeming with more life—and danger—than ever before.

The Monster Manual only has a few Humanoid stat blocks, with limited choices. Faces of the Wild fixes that. If you want to introduce a Ranger to your game, with the offical book, you have two options with the Scout and Scout Captain. With our book, you're going to have so many more options to choose from with 6 Rangers, 4 Hunters, 4 Explorers, 6 Slayers, and 4 Wardens across the entire CR range.

Encounter Roles

Each NPC features an Encounter Role. This role helps the DM understand how this monster should be used, so there's no guessing about who to use in an encounter and if this monster should be ranged or up front. There are 10 unique roles, like Brute (frontlines, powerful) and Leader (provides buff to allies), with unique ways that they interact in a fight, ensuring that every combat is action-packed and exciting.

Artillery | Ranged combatants who stick to the back of a battle.
Berserker | A powerful warrior who only gets stronger when they become Bloodied.
Brute
| A powerful frontline combatant with a focus on health and damage.
Cavaliers | Mounted combatants who utilize mounts to win their fights.
Controller | Manipulators of the battlefield, the Controller focuses on debuffing their enemies.
Leader | Providing buffs to their allies, a Leader is focused less on straight damage.
Lurker | Found in the shadows, Lurkers constantly seek ways to hide and surprise their enemies.
Skirmisher | A Skirmisher is about movement, charging forward and striking, and then quickly retreating.
Soldier | Found on the frontlines, a Soldier keeps enemies from advancing.
Spellcaster | Blessed with magic, most Spellcasters can take on many roles in combat.
Hybrid Roles | While not a set role, a creature with a hybrid role can take on two or more roles, so you have greater flexibility in their use.

These stat blocks reflect that the NPCs are dynamic and distinct combatants, not simple sacks of hit points. Each is designed with a clear role—such as Artillery or Skirmisher—whose mechanics authentically embody their fantasy. This ensures that fighting a barbarian feels like a relentless assault while a hunter presents a cunning challenge, making every encounter uniquely engaging.

Heroes & Villains Banner

When exploring the Wilds your sure to meet new friends...and enemies. In this book, we are featuring 10 Heroes & Villains who have fleshed out backstories, quest hooks, example encounters, new magic items, and a unique stat block so you're always prepared, no matter what your players do.

You can check out Vyncent Beray in our Faces of the Wild - Preview here! He is a wandering minstrel, trying to make a name for himself, all the while surviving out in the wilds. Adventurers who impress him will soon find their great deeds immortalized in songs sung in taverns across the kingdom.

Preview of Vyncent Beray, Art by Sebastian “Dubious Artiste”

Vyncent is only one of the Heroes & Villains the party will get the chance to meet. With 9 other options, you'll have a Sultan, Witch, Tomb Baider, Herbalist, and even a Cult Leader attempting to destroy the Wilds and the world. Each features a unique stat block, quest hooks, magic item, and backstory to help you prep less for your next game!

"For a homebrew campaign spun off of established lore and content, and increasingly centered on a major city, this collection of stat blocks is invaluable for spicing up social and combat encounters in the winding streets and alleys. Highly recommended!"
5 Stars - Michael O, review of
Faces of the City

Stretch Goals Banner

Our goal is $900. This will cover art and printing costs, but we know that this project could be a lot bigger! The more people you share this project with and join us, the more NPCs you'll have. While this book already starts with 102 stat blocks, every time we hit an Achievement below, we'll be increasing that number!
Achievement: 50 Shares Banner
When we hit 50 Facebook shares, we'll add in an 11th Hero or Villain! This will include a unique character, art, backstory, magic item, and stat block.
Achievement: 100 Backers Banner
Once we reach 100 backers, we will be unlocking additional NPCs to be added to the book! You'll get to vote on what category we include as a thank you for your support!

Potential categories include Centaurs, Cultists, Elves, Ettins, Gnolls, Goblins, Hills, Monks, Monsters, Mountains, Orcs, Swamps, Witches, and more.
Achievement: $2,000 Banner
At $2,000 (and every $1,000 after up to $10,000, up to 40 new NPCs!), we'll be adding in another category of NPCs that YOU vote on!

Potential categories include Centaurs, Cultists, Elves, Ettins, Gnolls, Goblins, Hills, Monks, Monsters, Mountains, Orcs, Swamps, Witches, and more.
Achievement: $10,000 Banner
When we hit this goal, we will create a mobile-friendly PDF of the finished book.

This will be a single-column document focused on optimizing the format for mobile and tablet screens. This may reduce the number of graphics and art in the mobile PDF, but it will not impact the book's main PDF. The main PDF will be prioritized to be completed first.
Achievement: $15,000 Banner
If we reach $15,000 or more, we will provide additional rewards as a Thank You for your support. We do not want to increase the project's scope and become too bloated, so we will be coming up with ideas that improve what we've already created, like book ribbons, better paper, dark mode PDFs, and other ideas. We may even include free stickers or other ways of showing our appreciation to our backers.

While our goal is March 2026, we recognize that things happen, and our schedule may have to be adjusted. If that happens, we will communicate our new timeline and ensure you stay in the know. We have, personally, backed many projects, and there is nothing more frustrating than not hearing from the creators when they experience delays.

Ordering Add-on items may increase the cost of shipping slightly.

Dump Stat d20 logo

You may know us from our wildly popular Tool Craft sourcebook (everything you need for crafting in D&D!) or our blog that has had millions of visitors since we started back in 2018. We have been rabid fans of Dungeons & Dragons for years (our groaning bookshelves are a testament), and love creating content for this incredible game.

Dump Stat Adventures started out posting articles on GM & Player advice, the history of monsters, and exciting homebrew for tables to add to their game. Our most popular article series was on Making Tools Useful in 5e (which would eventually become Tool Craft), and we have been creating content ever since. We have completed two crowdfunding campaigns, Tool Craft and Faces of the City, and we can't wait to create more!
