Magic isn’t always predictable. Sometimes it’s world-shattering, sometimes it’s just a minor inconvenience, and sometimes just sometimes it’s downright stupid.
That’s where The Catalogue of Chaos comes in.

For the past year, Editions 1 & 2 have been a hit at MCM Comic Con and UK Games Expo, where they’ve been enthusiastically received by D&D fans looking for something fresh, weird, and wildly entertaining. We’ve already sold over 200 copies, proving that there’s a real appetite for chaotic, unpredictable magic at the table.

Now, we’re taking the next step publishing The Catalogue of Chaos Edition 3, a softcover book containing over 30 brand-new magical items to be used with DND5e and designed to baffle, amuse, and occasionally ruin a well-planned session.

The good news? This book is already 90% complete. The items are written, the artwork is in place - all that remains is proofreading, finalising the layout, and preparing for print and fulfilment. That means once funded, we can move quickly to get the book into your hands.

The first two volumes have already introduced utterly ridiculous, often questionable magical items to unsuspecting players. Now, it’s time to keep the madness going with the next chapter.

By backing this campaign, you're not just getting a book, you’re helping spread the chaos further.

Once we hit our initial funding goal of £800 (barely enough to pay off our Half-Orc's bar tab.. here's looking at you Keth!), we'll unleash a cascade of chaotic stretch goals, including ludicrously stylish Catalogue of Chaos merch, even more brilliant artwork to dazzle your eyeballs, and - gods forbid - more Chaotic Items to impress your friends and terrify your bookshelf. Are you ready to push the chaos even further?

The Monstrous Scroll Previews (Early Backer Digital Bonus)

An exclusive digital PDF featuring the StormDragon and Frost Goblin - complete with full stat blocks, lore, and unique abilities - alongside 2 short adventure encounters that showcase these creatures in action. These encounters are written to be dropped into any 5e campaign with minimal prep.

This content will not appear in the main Vault of Monsters Book, coming later this year making it a true early backer exclusive and a first look at the tone, style, and danger of what’s to come.

At the heart of this crowdfunding campaign lies a trove of magical mischief for backers of all levels. Whether you’re after The Catalogue of Chaos Edition 3 in softcover or PDF, the entire three-book collection, or even an exclusive Catalogue of Chaos T-shirt, there’s a pledge level for you.

For those seeking something truly special, a limited number of backers will have the chance to commission a custom illustrated magic item, framed and signed, which will also be featured in the future hardback edition. Backers can also expand their loot with add-ons, including previous editions, and the chaotic TTRPG "The Jeff Paradox". No matter how you choose to support the campaign, your name will be immortalised in the "Chaos Champions" section - because every adventurer deserves recognition.

Unlock More Chaos!

Hitting our funding goal brings The Catalogue of Chaos: Edition 3 to life, but why stop there? Every stretch goal we unlock adds more delightful madness to the mix: Expanding Rewards, chaotic merch, stunning new art by Nick Ashton and community-voted magic items, Each stretch goal has a funding target, and once we hit it, that reward is added to eligible pledge levels. We'll update the campaign page every time we cross a new threshold of chaos.

Edit

It started as a few ridiculous magic item ideas, casually thrown into the chaotic world of Dungeon Master UK’s TikTok and the Roll Britannia podcast. A ring that shouts your inner thoughts, a sword that might decide to attack you instead, and a cursed dinosaur toy that wreaks absolute havoc. These strange, unpredictable artefacts were meant to add a little chaos to the game, but something unexpected happened... People wanted more.

What began as a handful of homebrew items for fun quickly captured the imaginations of D&D players everywhere. Fans shared, requested, and demanded these items in their own campaigns. Before long, a full compendium of madness was taking shape.
After a year of incredible reception at MCM Comic Con and UK Games Expo, where we’ve already sold over 200 copies of the first two books, it became clear, this wasn’t just a series of silly ideas. This was a new way to bring unpredictable magic into tabletop RPGs.
Now, with The Catalogue of Chaos Edition 3, we’re continuing the tradition of unhinged magical creativity, featuring over 30 brand-new magic items, illustrated by the incredible Nick Ashton. Some of these artefacts will never be included in future hardbacks, making this book a unique collector’s piece.

This isn’t just about publishing another D&D 5e supplement, it’s about keeping that spirit of creativity, humour, and sheer unpredictability alive at the table. Whether it’s the devastatingly powerful Washosauraus Rex or the questionable practicality of the Dwarf Tosser, each magic item in The Catalogue of Chaos is designed to delight, confound, and completely derail whatever plans your players had.

This project is about embracing the unexpected, redefining how magic items work, and most importantly having an absolute laugh while doing it.
Edit

This project is the work of James and Paul, the co-creators of Dungeon Master UK the viral TikTok channel where Crap Magic Items were first unleashed upon the world.

James is the creator of the Crap Magic Items series and the Dungeon Master of the Roll Britannia podcast, where players have suffered through these creations first-hand.

Paul is the technical wizard behind Dungeon Master UK, ensuring their absurd homebrew reaches as many tables as possible. As a cast member of Roll Britannia, he’s also been on the receiving end of these items, making him uniquely qualified to help bring them to life in book form.

Together, they’re turning fan-favourite magic items from social media, playtesting, and their own campaigns into fully illustrated books that you can bring to your own table.

Check out our artist Nick Ashton (aka the Chicken Monster) is a professional illustrator, designer, and animator with 20 years of experience creating stunning visuals for industry giants like Warner Bros, Disney, Netflix, HBO, and Dreamworks.

Bringing The Catalogue of Chaos Edition 3 to life is an exciting next step - but we've been here before. Editions 1 and 2 were hits at MCM Comic Con and UK Games Expo, selling over 200 copies, giving us valuable experience in production and fulfilment.

This book is already 90% complete, with all magic items written and artwork ready. All that's left is proofreading and final layout. Once funded, we'll quickly move to print and fulfilment.

While challenges like printing schedules, shipping logistics, and global supply issues may arise, we're prepared. We’re producing in manageable batches, collaborating with experienced professionals like Nick Ashton, and will communicate openly with backers throughout.

We're confident this edition will smoothly deliver magical chaos to your table!
