She's so back
Curious about how each cookie type is performing? Wonder no more! Here's the ranking for day 1 of our cookie run:
As you can see, our digital pack is outrunning everything else (did you get yours? it's free!), but "Lemony Prompts" and "Chocolate Doves" are head to head, with "Kinda Vanilla" in hot pursuit!

The cookies will be only available until April 10th! Hurry up and get them now, and help us spread the tasty word on socials!
Greetings, fujoshi, fudanshi, fujin, and friends, We might not have reached the anniversary of you all finding out yet, but the paperwork does not lie: itโs now been a year since our company was formed! We areโonce more with gusto!โincredibly grateful for all your help carrying us to this milestone, and proud of all we have achieved until now.
To many more years of business, fun, coding, and above allโฆ fujoโing out with friends!

Babyโs First Year: What more is there to say? Happy birthday, FujoCoded! ๐ผ
Coding Transitions: As you might know, Fandom Coders will be our next project to graduateโthat is, become its own sociocratic community led by its own members. This month, weโve reviewed all applications and put together a team of members to carry out the transition and figure out all the next stepsโฆ together!
FujoLounge: Weโre now ready to put Real Subscriber Dataยฎ into our database, after which weโll be able to start testing our $upporters-only portal. March is always our busiest month (๐), but we hope to soon have an extra treat for those who contribute to our cause with their Patreon support.
Speaking Up: This will be a busy year for speaking engagements. Not only has Ms Boba been invited again to speak at Citrus Con (June 20thโ22nd), sheโll also be an official speaker at the first ATmosphere conference next week! Read below for a few more details!
Aprilโs Wise: At this point, we know you know: our yearly April 1st event draws nearโฆ What will it be? Well, itโs a surprise! Fortunately, a sweet, sweet surprise.
Recent Progress on Our Backerkit Campaign
New Outlines: Weโre getting ready to tackle our first โhired gigโ for a learn.fujoweb.dev article: our introductory(ish) guide to JavaScript development with NPM. One step we took this month: our outline for the article is ready, and we shared it with a few chosen friends for initial feedback.
New New Outlines: The next article in our pipeline of rewards is about handling those crucial confrontations that arise when people tackle ambitious goals together (like ours)! After reading through the book, our comms lead Dove has brainstormed ways to condense and adapt the advice to fandomโs needs. (Sounds like you could have used that advice? Read the next section for ways to help!)
Babyโs First Contract: We got our first artist contract officially signed! The legal ducks dance happily in their row ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฆ
Whatโs Next for the FujoCoded Backerkit
Babyโs First Writer: Once weโre done gathering all the feedback, weโll face an important choice: should we spend more time brainstorming, or are we ready to throw ourselves into hiring our first writer? Look out for the answer (and a potential call for resumes) next month!
Trust Relationships: To fully land our article on conflict, we want to do some โmarket researchโ and learn more about how confronting (or being confronted by) fellow fans has gone for our audience.
Relevant experiences include:
Contributors backing out of fanwork commitments during events/exchanges
Organizers of fandom events, fandom servers, etc., struggling to delegate responsibility for getting things done or follow up on unfinished delegated tasks
Moderators confronting server members or event participants over their conduct
Beta reader arrangements gone sideways
Any situation in which a fandom commitment was dropped with little or no warning
If you have experience with any sort of fandom confrontation like this, or a fandom confrontation that really needed to happen but didnโt, then Dove would love to talk to you! Please reach out to [email protected] to get in touch.
Around the FujoVerse
In the press
Talkinโ Ship: This year, Ms Boba is going to present at not one, but TWO conferences (so far!). Not only will she be speaking at Citrus Con in June, but sheโll be giving an updated version of her talk about fandom and Open Protocols at the ATmosphere conference, the first conference about ATProto, the protocol behind social apps like Bluesky.
Technically Committed: Speaking of ATProto, Ms Boba is now officially a member of the Technical Steering Committee for the โcommunity Lexiconsโ initiative. As part of her role, sheโll be helping define community-led practices and data types for social apps built on ATProto. Sheโs also bringing some of our sociocracy practices into the mix!
Private Talk: During the ATmosphere conference, thereโs going to be a lot of talking all around. Developers from across the web will be meeting up to discuss and gather feedback on many different topics that are relevant to the future of independent socials. The Bluesky team will also be gathering feedback and discussing use cases for their upcoming work on private data. While she doesnโt promise, Ms Boba might send out updates on her own Bluesky account.
Ms Boba Streaming Schedule
Given the busy month(s) ahead, we donโt have a streaming schedule this time. Ms Boba will try to do some work in public some Mondays and Thursdays at 3PM Pacific, so be sure to follow her on Twitch to get notified when she goes online!
FujoStore Highlights: Restocks, Sales, and Limited-Time Offers
We donโt have any specials for you this month, but we have a very special month ahead. Keep an eye on this space and our socials for an upcoming limited-edition offer you surely wonโt want to miss.
You can help!
This month, weโre looking for some meta-helpโฆ with this very newsletter! Read below for this opportunity and more:
Newsletter Writer (๐ฐ): Do you know how to engage an audience? Do you have a penchant for writing cursed puns? Do you want some behind-the-scenes deets on all weโre up to? Weโre looking to hire a newsletter writer! Whether youโre a hobbyist seeking a challenge or a professional writer seeking an itty-bitty-hyper-tiny gig as an enrichment activity, whether English is your native language or "fanfictions taught you well", get in touch with us if youโd like to, well, take my job.
Fannish Conflict Advisors: Weโre looking for people willing to tell us more about how confronting (or being confronted by) fellow fans has gone in critical moments! If you organize fannish events and are struggling to delegate, or if you struggled with zine participants backing out during events/exchanges, or you have experience with these sorts of fandom confrontations that either happened or needed to happen (but didnโt), hit us up!
Permanent Call for Artists: A few people asked if they could submit their art resume even โoff seasonโ. The answer is yes: we always welcome artists dropping their contacts in our Artist Business Card Drop-Off form. We will ask around for specific qualifications when actively looking, but we always source from our whole roster of friends and friends-to-be!
If youโd like to help us with our newsletter, want to air your fannish confrontation grievances with us, or if youโd like to get involved in other ways, please let us know at [email protected]. Or, if youโre an artist, use our Artist Business Card Drop-Off form.
Thatโs All, Folks!
And with thisโฆ weโre done for this month! See you on-the-day-you-expect for our April 1st sorta-surprise!
Winter break is long behind us, and itโs time to face the music! After a wonderful weekend representing FujoCoded at the 35th Annual Escapade Convention in Los Angeles, weโre back to work on all our ongoing projects, filled with new enthusiasm after some inspiring con-nections (๐) with fellow fujin. No matter what the world throws at us (and, boy, is it throwing!), weโre committed to our mission of empowering fujoshi & friends to build a better web together.
As a US-based company, every week since January 21 has felt like One Of Those Weeks. Regardless, we will continue to pass the yaoi.
As usual, read to the end for our monthly merch promo and new opportunities to work with us ;)

Lounging around: Our programmer-for-hire Ria has made some great progress on the $upporters-only section of FujoCoded.com. Sheโs calling it the FujoLounge! It will feature some exclusive goodies for our Patreon members๐
All grown up: Weโre transitioning the Fandom Coders server to sociocratic self-governance! To facilitate the transition, weโve been recruiting server members to be on the transition team. Soon, weโll be meeting to put that team together!
Bsky Business: Our founder Ms Boba has been making connections with the BlueSky developers community in order to, among other things, ensure fannish interests are represented in the BlueSky ATprotocol development ecosystem. ATprotocol Dev hosted her for a Tech Talk about the importance of getting fans involved in decentralized web development.
FujoCoded went to Escapade 2025
Guiding lights: Since this was our first con, we werenโt sure what would sell. We came equipped with Fujoboards, T-shirts, tote bags, notepads, stickers, prints, and even catboy bathwater, but our best seller was actually printouts of the digital preview of The Fujoshi Guide to Web Development Vol. 0 Issue 1: Git. So thrilled to confirm that a wider audience is also eager for FujoGuide!
Hereโs our booth setup! We got several compliments from the other dealers.
From paddles to panels: When not selling cheese paddles with con partner Dove, our founder Ms Boba led three different panels: Personal Fannish Websites, Creating a Fandom from Scratch, and BlueSky & Decentralized Social Networks. Read more in the Around the FujoVerse section below.
Coloring Preview: We also donated some coloring pages to the conference for people who like to keep busy while listening to panels, thus creating an accidental preview of our future coloring book reward! Hereโs a screenshot of a colored page kindly donated by DarkDanc3r!
Thanks, DarkDanc3r!
Recent Progress on our BackerKit Campaign
InโnโOutline: As you may recall from December, we interviewed entry-level npm users about the difficulties they encountered while learning npm. A volunteer used those notes to write an outline for a very long npm article; weโre now editing the outline for a second review pass. It will likely end up split into a series, just like our Terminal quickstart!
Whatโs Next for the FujoCoded BackerKit
Maโam, I am the (package) manager: When weโve collectively agreed our outline for the package manager npm is fit for purpose (and our legal contracts have passed the final lawyer review), weโll hand it off to a real life tech writer to manage the article-writing for us.
Scheduling Conflict: Our founder Ms Boba will be lending some of her favorite reading material on conflict resolution to our communications coordinator Dove who is currently reading over it and brainstorming what we most want to cover in the Conflict Resolution article you helped us fund as a stretch goal.
Escapade 2025: Our intrepid founder Ms Boba spoke at several of Escapadeโs unique discussion-style panels. These panels gave us a chance to absorb new info from the collective wisdom of the fannish hivemind, and to help dispel confusion around the future (and present) of decentralized socials! Read on for details:
Whatโs Up with BlueSky (and Decentralized Social Networks)?: โWhat is BlueSky and how is it different from (or similar to) platforms like Tumblr, Twitter, or LiveJournal/Dreamwidth? And how is it different from other efforts to create decentralized social platforms like Mastodon? But most importantly, can fandom use it, and should we?โ (Hosted by Ms Boba)
The Fujoshi Guide to Web Development - Building a Fandom from Scratch: โCome hear about our adventures attempting to build a โslash fandomโ from first principles (for a good cause), and letโs talk about what makes fandoms and ships stick!โ (Hosted by Ms Boba)
Personal Fannish Websites: โWhat types of personal fandom websites have existed throughout the online ages? Characters and ship shrines, art galleries, quizzesโฆand what else? What new types of websites would be fun to see? Any websites you miss?โ (Hosted by Ms Boba & Elf Herself)
At ATprotocol: In service of advocating to make Bluesky friendlier to fujin and the transformative fandom community as a whole (as well as the time-honored practice of networking), Ms Boba will be attending @tmosphere Conferenceโthe very first ATprotocol Dev conference!โin March.
Hang Out with FujoCoded Live on Twitch ๐ฌโจ
After a healthy crop of two-stream weeks during which we developed our BlueSky experiments, our founder Ms Boba will be returning to a one-stream-per-week cadence as we gear up for our annual April event.
Thursday, February 20 @ 3pm PST: Fanworks Labeler Wrap-Up(?)
Thursday, February 27 @ 3pm PST: BobaBoard Special
FujoStore Highlights

You can help!
This month, we need artistswho take commissions; ourbusiness card dropoff is always open. Weโre gearing up for a secret project that might possibly be slightly related to acertainannualevent and want to have all our artistic ducks in a row well beforehand.
Hereโs who weโre looking for:
BACKGROUND ARTISTS - URGENT!!!. Specifically, we need an artist who is experienced with room interiors. Think VanillaWare games or Lo-Fi Girlโshallow perspective with a foreground character.
Graphic artists: Can you do cool typography for stickers and beyond? FujoCoded wants YOU!
Weโd also still be happy to take volunteer auditors for the ongoing background project of revamping the BobaBoard website and documentation. If youโre good at being a nitpicky reader and critical website user, we could use your input!
If youโd like to try any of these roles, or if youโd like to get involved in other ways, let us know via [email protected]. Or, if youโre an artist, you can use our artist business card dropoff.
However youโre affected by the political upheaval of the past few weeks, we hope youโre taking care of yourself and enjoying some really good escapist fanfic this Valentine's Day weekend. Donโt forget: Imagining a better world is the first step to creating it!
Spread the word (Escapadeโs press kit makes it easy to signal boost)
These are other ways to support the conโwith your help, we can make sure this fandom tradition continues for years to come! (And you can always forward this email to a friend!)
Our Panels
At Escapade, attendees submit (and vote on) the panels that will be featured at the con. Ms Boba has managed to sneak in 3 of them:
Friday 1/31 @ 4PM โ What's up with BlueSky (and decentralized social networks)?
Saturday 2/1 @ 9AM โ The Fujoshi Guide to Web Development - Building a Fandom from Scratch
