So a funny thing happened to me last night. First, some background: I'm in a bi-weekly Fading Suns ttrpg game with Bill Bridges, a game author you may know from such titles as Vampire: the Masquerade, Werewolf: the Gathering, and...Fading Suns. Yes, I'm playing in a game with with one of the people who wrote *that game*. (Fortunately, he also happens to be a genuinely wonderful human being, and has never once corrected the GM on lore.)
So the point of this is that last night, the GM pointed everyone's attention to the fact that a 4X video game that Bill (and Holistic Design, Inc.) created years ago, EMPEROR OF THE FADING SUNS, has a new, enhanced version with better graphics/sound, that is slated to go live April 4. This Friday! (It's on Steam, the link is here.)
"Bill!" I said, "why didn't you say this was happening? You've never mentioned it!"
To which he replied, "I didn't think I needed to. It's been all over social media for weeks."
"Not over my social media," I told him. "I haven't seen a peep."
He cursed the algorithm (rightfully so) and I started thinking about how our voices really don't carry as much as we sometimes think. When this campaign is all finished (only 9 days now) I'm absolutely certain that there will be people (friends!) who will come up to me and say, "I wish I'd known this was happening."
You know it'll happen.
So...you know what comes next...this is where I need you to spread the word. Every little bit helps!
