Magical mayhem abounds when a curious cat wanders into a charmed cottage.
In this easy-to-learn game for two, compete to coax Mabel into knocking trinkets off a witch’s table. Competitive and quick, this fun game is a purrfect dose of cat chaos.
The Fable of Mabel on the Witch’s Table is a fast, competitive, two-player game of controlled cat chaos.
While the witch is away, it's Mabel's time to play and it's your job to guide her paws.
Use cards to move Mabel around the table to push mysterious knickknacks off its edge. Each fallen thingymajig earns you points but beware: not all trinkets are helpful, and your opponent is ready to pounce at any time.
Created by the father-daughter team at Kaioss Games as their second game following their tabletop debut with Betty Two Bricks, this new travel-sized board game is easy to learn, quick to play and full of strategic silliness.
The aim is simple: guide Mabel the cat to paw precious trinkets off the witch’s table and collect Object Cards worth hidden points.
The player with the highest total wins but beware, not all shiny things should be yours as negative points hide amongst the positive.
Time's a-ticking: cat-astrophe looms as the witch is on their way home and they won’t be thrilled at finding a feline flinging fripperies about.
Each Round: You start with four Action Cards. These can be used for clever chaos like lulling Mabel into a cat nap right when your opponent wants her to pounce or sending her sauntering in the opposite direction.
Want to get Mabel moving? Burn (discard) a card to make her move one space or push an object once. Mabel must be on the same space as the object to push it.
Play as many or as few cards as you like. When you're done, draw back up to four cards and let your opponent try their hand at cat coaxing.
Tipping the table: In classic cat style, if Mabel and an object are both on the same magical rune around the table’s edge, she can bat that object off the table.
This lets you draw a secret Object Card worth anywhere from +3 to -3 points. That’s right, not all treasures are treats! So even if your opponent is pushing more than you, you may yet claw your way to victory.
A little mayhem: Pick a strategy: play it stealthy and cautious or go full mayhem, messing with your opponent at every turn.
Action Cards will never run out so there's always a chance to steal, annoy and turn the literal tables.

Steve and Diana Read are the founders of Kaioss Games and are both cake-eating, cat obsessed, tabletop gamers. The father-daughter team created Kaioss Games in lockdown, ostensibly to spread the good word of the board game but really to create a workplace that every day they can look forward to being in. In 2024, they published their debut card game, Betty Two Bricks, which launched at the UK Games Expo that year. This year, they're back with an even more vicious, competitive, catty game to satisfy your inner chaos gremlin.
Van Lynn Foo is an illustrator, concept artist, and visual storyteller—and a lifelong gamer at heart. After a fun collaboration with Kaioss Games on Betty Two Bricks, Van came on board as Illustrator for Fable Mabel Table. She has been leading on developing the visual style of the game, including the look of the titular, and charming, Mabel herself. When she’s not drawing, Van enjoys people-watching (and cat-watching) and sketching their many delightful quirks.
The titular Mabel is our lovely, adorable cat who in fact, is barely mischievous at all (she's mainly very affectionate and loves lap time throughout the day). We adopted her from a rescue home when she was around three years old. Her favourite things are naps, very slowly stalking moving objects, deliberating which object to stalk next and more naps.
Estimated delivery date: Spring 2026. I know the estimated delivery date seems a bit vague. Having run projects before, unexpected delays due to manufacturing or delivery are common. Therefore, we are aiming to have the game in your hands by Spring 2026. However, if the fates align and everything goes well, it could be earlier. It just depends if Mabel knocks the delivery driver's keys of the table...
