Welcome to the Deadly Tangle Launch Party! 🎉
This project will feature four fluorescent jellyfish keychains - here are the blue and green ones!
Each design starts as a drawing in watercolour and coloured charcoal pencils, which will be printed onto fluorescent acrylic.
The blue one is Crystal jelly (Aequorea victoria). This jellyfish is found off the west coast of North America and flashes blue to scare away predators.
Crystal jelly was studied for this bioluminescence, and is where green fluorescent protein (GFP) originally came from, the green protein used as a marker light in biotechnological research.
The ribbon structure of GFP will be the green keychain - so not actually a jellyfish this one!
There'll also be a set of guitar picks and six t-shirts with different jellyfish designs. All-over-print gym leggings and a box jellyfish Hawaiian shirt will come at later stretch goals.
