A Deep-Sea Field Guide Enamel Pin Collection is a cute, science-inspired journey into the deepest parts of our ocean! Our mission is simple: make learning about the deep ocean feel like an adventure while creating beautiful little specimens!
Into the Abyss is a collection of 12 enamel pin designs inspired by real ocean creatures, with specimen cards that introduce the animals behind the artwork.
I wanted this collection to feel like a tiny field guide you can wear. There are soft little swimmers, strange faces, plenty of teeth, and animals that look like someone made them up.
We’re beginning with the Sea Angel and Barreleye Fish. As the campaign reaches new funding goals, more specimens will unlock and become available to choose.
The designs feature gold plating and planned details such as transparent enamel, pearlescent finishes, and glow-in-the-dark accents. Each specimen has its own little story to tell.
The collection is planned in hard enamel with gold plating, with different finishes selected for each design.
Most specimens measure 2 to 2.25 inches along their longest side. The Giant Phantom Jelly measures 2.5 inches, and I’m planning a larger 3-inch Giant Squid as the collection’s finale, subject to manufacturer confirmation.
Planned finishes include transparent and translucent areas, pearlescent enamel, touches of glitter, and glow-in-the-dark details. Fine printed details will help bring out features that are too small for enamel alone.
Each pin will come on its own specimen backing card, and I’ll inspect the pins before packing your orders.

I’m planning to work with my manufacturer to produce the enamel pins. Before production, each design will be prepared with clear instructions for its colors, metal outlines, printed details, and special finishes.
I’ll review the manufacturer’s proofs and make any adjustments needed to help the designs work at their finished size.
Once production is complete and the pins arrive, I’ll inspect them, attach their specimen cards, and pack your orders.
The artwork shown on this page is a preview. Small changes to colors, lines, or finishes may be needed during manufacturing, and I’ll share those changes through campaign updates.

FOUNDING EXPLORER STICKER
A tiny expedition badge for your notebook, laptop, or wherever you keep reminders of your adventures. This design brings together our little research submarine and the colors of Into the Abyss.

SUBMARINE ACRYLIC PIN
Every expedition needs a ride, and ours comes with a bubble window, tiny flippers, and a very enthusiastic little pilot.
This acrylic pin design is being developed as an extra for the collection. Its final size, price, and availability are still being worked out.
Here’s the planned journey from campaign to your collection!
SEPTEMBER 8–29, 2026 The campaign runs! We’ll work toward unlocking more specimens throughout the expedition.
SEPTEMBER 30–OCTOBER 12, 2026 Campaign payments are processed while I prepare the backer survey and manufacturer artwork.
OCTOBER 13–26, 2026 Backer surveys go out. You’ll choose your unlocked specimens and confirm your order details. Please complete your survey by October 26 so I can finalize production quantities.
OCTOBER 27–NOVEMBER 9, 2026 I’ll finalize quantities, review manufacturer proofs, and approve the artwork for production.
NOVEMBER 10–DECEMBER 21, 2026 Planned production and inbound shipping window for the pins and packaging.
DECEMBER 22, 2026–JANUARY 10, 2027 I’ll inspect the finished items and prepare orders. This period also provides some room for holiday delays and production issues.
JANUARY 11–29, 2027 Estimated shipping window! I’ll pack and send rewards in batches.
These dates are estimates and may shift if proofs need extra revisions, manufacturing takes longer, or items need replacing. I’ll share any changes through campaign updates.
Shipping dates refer to when packages leave me, rather than when they arrive at your door. Late surveys or unpaid balances may delay individual orders.
Shipping is charged separately through BackerKit after the campaign. It is not included in your pledge price.
The amount will depend on your destination and the size of your final order. Please check the shipping estimates and available destinations before backing.
Each pin will be inspected and packed with its specimen card and protective packaging.

For this collection, I wanted to bring together cute creature designs and the real science that makes ocean life so interesting. The field-guide theme gives each pin a little more to share than its appearance alone.

There are a few moving parts between a finished design and a pin arriving at your door.
Manufacturer revisions, production issues, freight delays, or pins needing replacement could affect the schedule. Special finishes may also look a little different from their digital previews.
I’ll inspect the pins before shipping and work with the manufacturer if there are production problems.
