Pledge Level descriptions and mockups

1. Liminal Grimoire Digital Edition ($12)
You'll get the PDF copies of everything in the Liminal Grimoire, including PDFs of any unlocked stretch goal supplements (such as additional adventures or gaming content).

2. Liminal Grimoire Box Set ($39)
You'll get the Liminal Grimoire, a 9" x 4" box containing all of the pamphlets and leaflets described above. You'll also receive all unlocked stretch goals. This tier includes the PDFs of everything in the Liminal Grimoire as well.

3. Liminal Horror Facilitator Bundle ($65)
You'll get the Liminal Grimoire box set along with PDFs of all of the supplements. You'll also get M. Allen Hall's other Liminal Horror adventures, Elevator Game and On The Hill, in physical and digital formats.
  • Elevator Game is an investigation adventure. A series of disappearances has been linked to an underground music venue called The Basement. Using clues from the punk zine Elevator Game (which are included as three 8-page, A6-sized diegetic zines), the Investigators must figure out who is responsible for the disappearances and hunt them down before the culprit gets wise and flees town.
  • On The Hill is a voidcrawl through a cursed state park. Investigators must find their way out of the park before the Not Deer, or its servant the Old Timer, catch them and make them a part of the forest.

Note: Backing levels above do not include shipping. Shipping fees will be collected post-campaign through the Pledge Manager.

Mockups of Stretch Goals

There will be a few stretch goals during the campaign. More will be announced as these are unlocked.
  • $800: Success! Once we hit $800, we will be able to fund a print run of all of the supplements detailed above as well as a "sleeve and tray" box to hold them.
  • $2000: Box Upgrade! When we hit $2,000, we will be upgrading the box from a "sleeve and tray" style to a 2-piece box (like a board game box).
  • $8000: Campaign Leaflet! When we hit $8,000, we will add another leaflet to the Grimoire that outlines a storyline that takes your Investigator(s) through the 5 adventures, chaining them together into a campaign. This leaflet will also include a custom Fallout table inspired by the horrors in these modules.
  • $15000: Witch's Well Adventure! When we hit $15,000, we will add another pamphlet adventure to the Grimoire: Witch's Well. The Investigators follow a trail of missing persons to the bottom of an old well and find themselves entangled in the affairs of a needy witch.

Also, if we can get 100 people to share the campaign on social media, we will be including a sticker of art from one of the adventures with every physical reward. To share the campaign, click on the Community tab at the top of this page.

You will also see our progress toward the other stretch goals on the Community tab.

Header text "What is Liminal Horror?"

Liminal Horror is a rules-lite, modern horror tabletop roleplaying game system for telling stories about normal people forced to endure abnormal circumstances. Characters have three attributes, combat is fast and lethal, and the horrors are sure to exact permanent changes on survivors.

Do you need to buy Liminal Horror to play Liminal Grimoire?

I would absolutely recommend buying a copy of Liminal Horror (or, better yet, supporting the BackerKit campaign  for the Liminal Horror Deluxe Edition).

However, you do NOT need to buy the Liminal Horror rulebook to play Liminal Grimoire. This is because:

1. The rules are available for free on the Liminal Horror website.
2. An abridged version of the rules are included in Liminal Grimoire in the pamphlet titled An Abbreviated Horror RPG. This pamphlet contains enough rules to get your game rolling.

Header text "Included Supplements"

Liminal Grimoire holds a variety of adventures and other supplemental content for Liminal Horror.

1. Alone in the Dark
A solo toolset for Liminal Horror. This pamphlet contains
  • A suggested gameplay loop
  • Instructions for rolling Saves without the prompting of a GM
  • A Sparks table with 108 spark words to inspire your game
  • Oracle tables to inspire Encounters and Complications
  • New rules for building a party of characters during play
  • Suggestions for running combat solo.

2. The Hunger of Hours
Pulled into The Backrooms. Entangled in a conflict between rival factions trying to exploit this liminal space. Hunted by The Hunger. Can you find (or earn) your way back to reality before the unyielding unraveling of time claims you as another victim?

3. Moe's House of Meat
The elevator was supposed to take you to the bathroom. Instead, you find yourself fighting for your life to escape Moe's House of Meat. Get to the exit or end up on the menu.

4. Harvest Fest
The most popular fall festival in the county is home to an unbelievable corn maze. Just hope you find your way out before The Reaper finds you. A point crawl through the festival leads to a voidcrawl through the corn maze in this autumnal adventure.

5. Brine
Disappearances across town have been traced to an abandoned seaside bunker. The bunker now holds the Church of Silt and Salt, the lair of the cult of the Vast Beneath, an eldritch force that draws its power from the deep. You must rescue an abductee before they are sacrificed as part of High Priestess Darya's ritual to summon the Vast Beneath.

6. One Hour Photo
Maybe you need to develop some film, or maybe you are just seeking shelter from the rain. Whatever your reason for going inside One Hour Photo, you are sure to regret your decision when you get pulled into the basement to be hunted by The Attendant.

7. An Abbreviated Horror RPG
A pamphlet containing a rules summary of Liminal Horror, based the Liminal Horror SRD v2.0. While the rules contained in this pamphlet form a complete game, and they are adequate as a reference while playing the game, being acquainted with the full ruleset is recommended to get the complete Liminal Horror experience.

8. Character Sheets and Accomplice Cards
In addition to the adventures and solo tools, the box will also hold character sheets and accomplice cards (for solo play). Toss in a pencil and some dice and you've got everything you need to game on the go.

Header text "Timeline"

The base set of supplements (described in the "What's in the box?" section above) are finished and ready for printing. Planned stretch goal supplements have been outlined already, and they will be the first priority to finish up as soon as they are unlocked. Production arrangements are in place for both the base box as well as the upgraded box, if that is unlocked as a stretch goal.

This leaves the following projected timeline:
  • July 2025: all stretch goal supplements are completed and final edits to all supplements are wrapped up.
  • August 2025: Final files are sent to the printer.
  • December 2025 - January 2026: Products are received from the printer.
  • February 2026: Digital and physical fulfillment begins.

Header text "Shipping"

We will be fulfilling all US orders in house using Pirate Ship. I have used this service for each of my crowdfunding campaigns with great results.

For backers in the UK and EU, we will be working with a fulfillment company to help with GSPR compliance and VAT remittance to ensure your packages arrive with as few additional fees as possible.

Given frequent fluctuations in global shipping costs and tax rates, as well as the product not being finalized yet, shipping and VAT will be collected after the campaign using a pledge manager. An estimate of the shipping prices for the Liminal Grimoire Box Set tier can be found below. Additional rewards and add ons may increase your price over these estimates.

  • USA - $8
  • Canada - $15
  • Rest of World - $19

Header text "Cross-Collab Campaign"

If you back both this campaign and the I Don't Belong Here campaign, you will receive an additional supplement — a collaboration between M. Allen Hall and STATIONS.

I Don't Belong Here is a modern horror RPG sparkbook inspired by the lyrics of Radiohead. It contains numerous tables for adding a little weirdness to your TTRPG games, and it has a section of content dedicated to Liminal Horror, including a solo adventure — written by M. Allen Hall.

The bonus supplement will be an additional leaflet that you can add to your Grimoire. One side will contain details of a new faction for use in your Liminal Horror games (written by M. Allen Hall), and the other side will contain new spark tables detailing things that the faction could be involved with (written by STATIONS).

If you back at the digital only level, you will receive the PDF of the faction supplement.
