BackerKit FAQ
How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.
To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.
All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.
Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.
Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.
When will I be charged for my pledge?
Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.
What happens after the campaign is over?
The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.
Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.
Project FAQ
Why Backerkit?
Anyone who backed campaigns on KS are probably already familiar with Backerkit because the post-campaign surveys often go through them. We always loved and appreciated Backerkit’s ease of use, user-friendly interface, and straightforwardness. More than that, in a world where creators have their works stolen & stripped for parts by Al models, Backerkit with their clear stance against Al was a no-brainer for us. Moreover, they decided to start their own platform because of KS investment in block chains. That's taking a stand! All in all. Backerkit wad the moral choice for us to qo uth, and we hope you l que creators running their campaigns on it (like us!) a chance.
What About Shipping?
Since prices fluctuate a lot all across the board, and depend on exact weight, shipping will be charged later once everything is ready to ship (in the Fall) through the pledge manager here on Backerkit. That way, we'll get the most accurate prices for all locations, get up to date addresses for everyone, and no one should encounter any problems with carriers or with delivery. We thank you for your understanding! Here's an estimate of shipping by country as of right now—April 10th, 2025. Prices are obviously subject to change since carriers always update them, but this should give you a rough idea of the ballpark for shipping to your destination (Prices in USD): US: $6 (USPS) Canada: $18 (UPS) UK, Europe, India, Australia: $30 (UPS) Rest of the world: Anywhere between $45-$60 (UPS) Note: Places where we chose to display UPS prices is because, from past experience, UPS offers a more reliable, faster, and cheaper service than USPS.
What About Shipping To The European Union?
We gladly accept pledges from residents of any country in the EU! We sadly have to warn you that you will be responsible for import duties and VAT upon receiving the package. Why? Because we are small creators and aren't registered for an IOSS and VAT number (which would cost us multiple thousand of dollars that we don't have). We apologize for the added cost, but we can't thank you enough if you still decide to support us at the level of a physical pledge. We know how difficult all of this is, and we want to be transparent about it.
