BackerKit FAQ
How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.
To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.
All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.
Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.
Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.
When will I be charged for my pledge?
Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.
What happens after the campaign is over?
The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.
Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.
Project FAQ
Does the game come with pizza?
Only metaphorically, like in Hook.
Is the game itself changing?
No, nothing beyond minor typos will change in the book itself. This is simply a high-quality reprint, with new extras like maps and dice.
Is it appropriate for kids?!
Slugblaster has some mature themes (like the parodying of drug PSAs), but is otherwise suitable for most audiences. No swearing, gory art, or direct drug references or anything like that. It would be appropriate for children old enough to watch something like the Spider-Verse movies.
What are the risks with the campaign?
The main risks are in delays and shipping. Delays because we try our best but we're also trying to make something really rad and shipping because, well, shipping is bad right now, and the costs for shipping may go up. Other than that, the core game is already 100% finished with just a few design elements to finalize - the box, what goes in it, and any Stretch Goals we may unlock and design as a result of this campaign. Mythworks is a veteran of over 15 crowdfunding campaigns so we're well versed in the trials and tribulations therein.
I have an issue with my pledge who should I write?
Please email: [email protected] We try to funnel all customer support into that email so it all exists in one easy place to check. Doing so helps us get to it in a timely manner. Thank you!
What's the deal with shipping?
The world is chaotic and things are constantly changing when it comes to worldwide logistics. It's tricky. It sucks. There's no way to predict accurate shipping at the time of a campaign's fulfillment and rates continue to go up. We're charging for shipping after the campaign ends near fulfillment. We've learned a lot over the past few years, including the need to over-communicate and be absolutely 100% transparent when it comes to shipping. Here is exactly how we're going to handle shipping: 1. Announce Shipping Rates. We'll make sure you're well aware of the shipping rates by listing the full rates here as well as having them implemented on BackerKit. We'll make several announcements during the week and give Backers two weeks until we charge cards. 2. Wait Two Weeks. We'll announce once again the shipping rates again after one week. 3. Give Final 48 Hours Notice to Charge Cards. After the two weeks we'll give a final 48 hour notice that charges will be going out. 4. Charge for Shipping. Then we'll charge for shipping and push them through to fulfillment. We have warehouses in the USA, UK, and EU from where we'll be sending out goods. We're actively working on finding better partners and solutions for Canada and Australia/New Zealand, but rates remain very high for those territories.
Is there VAT for this campaign?
For the USA, UK, and EU - no. We're based in the USA and have import EORIs et. all for the UK and EU. For Australia, New Zealand, and Canada - potentially, but we're working on partners with fulfillment centers in those territories to make sure that doesn't happen. In the past, these territories have sometimes been hit with VAT from packages sent from the USA, sometimes not - it really depends on who's inspecting at the time. For ROW - potentially as well, as we are shipping from various places around the world depending on the rates.
Can I get a refund?
Bummer to see you go, but of course! Just write to us to let us know.
