With sex positivity at its core, acceptance, and embracing of everyone across many spectra, Vibrating Tarot starts the types of conversations that bridge the gap between sexuality and spirituality.
The concept clears away stigma with its initial humour but should also be looked at in a serious way as a legitimate tool of divination to engage with, solo or with friends and trusted partners, in search of deeper knowledge about yourself and those around you.
Taking the general framework of Pamela Colman Smith's Tarot artwork from 1909, Vibrating Tarot is redrawn, recoloured, and reinterpreted as a world of personified pleasure products.
This project is not meant for arousal, nor is it designed to elicit such a response. Rather, it is intended as a tool or a guide which catalogues hundreds of different sexual wellness products and concepts for people to learn about and explore.
Our new deck of cards builds upon the traditional Tarot archetypes, transforming the essence of the deck as a whole as it pays homage to many different worlds that explore sex-positivity, LGBTQ+ visibility, and BDSM/kink friendly themes.

Vibrating Tarot is not commissioned or funded in any way. It is an independent project that has benefited from the generous support of each company that is featured in the artwork.
Three well-known Vibrating Tarot cards, featuring CalExotics, Chaotic Kink, Riverqueer Leatherwork, The Magic Wand, Tension, pjur, Mercy Whips, njoy Toys, and Crystal Delights.
It took about 2 years to research and design the deck of cards, and an additional 3 years to officially license the use of each product featured in the artwork.

Question: Does this project officially license the use of these images?
Answer: YES. I'm proud to say that I have officially and legally licensed the use of every image seen in the Vibrating Tarot deck.
Licensing the use of each image was absolutely essential for the longevity and the commercial viability of this project. I never wanted to try developing this project in any other way.

Partnering with each of these brands has made the project stronger than I could have ever conceived. Adopting an open dialogue led to a deeper understanding of each product and each brand, which helped me to refine my ideas as I made progress. As a result, the artwork took form with deeper meaning and stronger connections than I could have ever anticipated.

Vibrating Tarot contains 80 Tarot cards, consisting of the 78 Major and Minor Arcana cards and two additional bonus cards. The deck will be printed on a premium card stock that is thicker than standard playing cards and will have a semi-gloss finish for smooth movement and vibrant colours.
We still have one card that is technically "in progress" — The Magician, but we're sure that some magic will show up before our publication and printing deadline is at hand. We'll keep everyone updated on any changes to the artwork as it happens from this time forward.
The backs of the cards feature a custom radial design using an image of the most requested product to be included in this project, the Pure Wand from njoy Toys.
We left this side of the card Black and White to honour the purity of the stainless steel wand and to properly observe the simplicity of the vector based image. This decision has also helped keep the cost of each unit at a more manageable price point.
We are proud to announce that our 120 page Vibrating Tarot Guidebook will include a foreword written by a well-known and highly respected sexual wellness advocate and pleasure product industry icon to be announced soon.
Preliminary pages explain Tarot in general and give suggestions on how to approach reading from Vibrating Tarot. Several new and unique card spreads are described in detail.
Each of the 80 Tarot cards will have its own dedicated page, where all products and manufacturers will be listed beside an image of the card. To help the user understand the cards’ meanings, key words and a general interpretation of each card is provided.
The Standard Edition Vibrating Tarot Deck and Guidebook will be housed in a 2-Piece Vertical Standing Rigid Box with a fully removable Lid.
Vibrating Tarot must have an attractive and commanding presence on the shelf if it will stand beside some of the best pleasure products in the industry, and it must stand tall in its own right when placed among other items in the novelty section.
The Product Box comes printed with a Barcode on the exterior product box art that was legally purchased and is internationally accepted in over 120 countries.
The box art will contain the title of the product on all four sides and will feature a string of Tarot cards that are spread across all four sides. This will allow the box to face forward in four different ways, each way containing different images of pleasure products and different examples of the Tarot art.
The Vibrating Tarot Standard Edition contains 80 Tarot cards printed on 350gsm premium art paper card stock and our 120 page perfect bound Guidebook, both housed in a vertical standing 2-Piece Rigid Box.
The Standard Edition is available as a single deck (pledge in the first 48 hours to take advantage of our Early Bird Discount), as a two-pack, and as a six-pack. Add on as many single decks and six-packs as you like. The Vibrating Tarot Waterproof Edition is a limited edition product that will only be available through this crowdfunding campaign and will include a guidebook that is numbered by hand. The Waterproof Edition will be printed on demand and the price of this item factors in the high cost of producing it in this way.

This pledge level comes with an original ink on paper artwork, made by a Ukrainian artist named Vitaly. As the proprietor of Shaman Whips, Vitaly was forced to cease operations due to the war. Vitaly's craftsmanship is showcased in Vibrating Tarot as the Ace of Whips.
This original artwork was purchased by Vibrating Tarot for inclusion in the crowdfunding campaign, and the full proceeds of this pledge level will be directly provided to Vitaly, so back this pledge level to directly support an artist in need. How am I spending your money?
Most of the cost goes towards the manufacturing and shipment of at least 1000 units of the Standard Edition Vibrating Tarot Deck. All Waterproof Editions are printed on demand, which is reflected in its cost.
Stripe, payment processor for BackerKit, has seen our project and has approved of our work. They have assured us, firsthand, that they will process the payments for this project if it is successfully funded on this platform, or any other crowdfunding platform.
As a member of Stripe, in good standing, I'm grateful to them for stepping forward and reassuring us that they will process the payments for this project.
Prices from printers in North America are generally at least three times the prices of those in China. Although I would like to support local operations, it is not a feasible solution at this time.
After some exhaustive research, collecting quotations from a selection of factories, and connecting with members of the indie Tarot makers community, I am confident in moving forward with a factory in China to print the first edition of Vibrating Tarot.

Frank Lawrence debuting Vibrating Tarot, in attendance at the Adult Novelty Manufacturers Expo in Burbank, CA, in January 2024, as a special guest of Lovehoney Group.
Who am I and how did this project come to fruition?
My name is Frank Lawrence. I am an independent artist and freelance typographer from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, specializing in creating systems of divination such as ESP and Tarot cards, unique wooden spirit boards, and custom Sigil designs, as well as offering freelance typography, book design, and general graphic design consultation. In my spare time, I garden poisonous plants, collect old typewriters, and play the saw.
One lazy afternoon in 2017, as I was drifting off to sleep, I had a vision of the We-Vibe Chorus upon The Lovers Tarot card and jumped up from my pillow to write down my idea. It wasn't until February 2020 that I had sufficient time and space to explore this idea further.
Coming to this project predominantly from a graphic design background, and secondly from a Tarot and divination background, the pleasure products were what I needed help with to fully understand, and a community informed approach was adopted from the start.
After a variety of big names in the pleasure product industry started giving me positive feedback and agreeing to be involved in the project, I knew I had something worthwhile.
What are some of my past projects?
Published works
Book design is one of the areas of typography that I enjoy the most. I've published a few books on my own to express some of my own unique ideas, where I explore artistic and experimental typographic expression and photography.
As an artist who specializes in typography, typography is my art. If I ever do a show at an Art Gallery, it will be filled with optical illusions created by typesetting the words of a book or a film script in unique and creative ways.

Font Design
I often look for ways to create fonts out of some of my ideas. My four fonts that have been available for free download have been collectively downloaded over 185,000 times.

Advertising A major challenge has been uncovering and connecting with my audience. Due to the adult theme, promoting and advertising this project through social media is near impossible.
I have been able to overcome this challenge in a few ways:
Exhibiting at several adult-themed markets in my local and surrounding communities has resulted in increased awareness and email sign-ups, and allowed for audience engagement with prototypes of the deck.
By attending some of the largest industry tradeshows in 2024 and 2025, I have had opportunities to connect with company representatives in person, resulting in meaningful and worthwhile professional relationships that will extend the reach of my crowdfunding campaign through endorsements.
Licensing Product Images As the vast majority of pleasure product imagery shown in this deck is owned by the companies that manufacture them, the only way to make and sell this deck is through licensing agreements with each company.
With over 150 agreements required, this has been a massive undertaking and is one of the main drivers of the extended timeline of this project’s development. There have been several inevitable delays in this process, resulting in a long road towards collecting all the licensing agreements.
I have had to adopt a patient outlook in working with so many different companies, each one with their own schedule, operating in their own world with their own priorities and pressures, and each with their own wants and needs for participation in the project. Some signatures came within the hour, while some took four years and travel to the opposite coast to acquire.
But this has all been fine by me. I think this is what gives the project strength and I would not want it any either way, however, it has definitely posed a challenge.
Risks
At the time of crowdfunding, the deck design is complete and all licensing agreements have been obtained, so the deck itself will be made.
The biggest risk that I can foresee relates to the planned production and fulfillment timeline. Working with manufacturers and shippers comes with potential risks that may lead to delays, such as supply chain issues, slow production, shipping delays, and human error. I have attempted to mitigate these risks by selecting a reputable manufacturer that has been used by many of my fellow tarot card designers, and establishing a relationship with them far in advance of placing my order.
While this is my first crowdfunding campaign, I have been researching and planning it alongside development of the deck and have been paying close attention to and backing other similar campaigns to see what works and learn from the mistakes of others so that I don’t repeat them.
