Lá Fhéile Pádraig sona daobh! Happy St.Patrick's Day!
Whether you celebrate or not I hope you've had a great day.
I accidently attached a copy of Fomorian Invasion before it had a final proof, the correct and updated version was uploaded yesterday. Apologies for that. We look forward to hearing your thoughts on this adventure.
A Little Something...
A few months back we polled about what book we should create next and a book of silk road inspired magic items came out on top. Well, we listened, and that's the next book we're working on. You can find the teaser page filled with awesome artwork, sample magic items and the story behind Sayuri's Chest of Wonders. This will be a digital only campaign.
Surveys have been sent and we will begin fulfilment tomorrow. We had hoped to have it fulfilled tonight, but the adventure needed a final round of edits, so it will be with you tomorrow.
You will notice that Fomorian Invasion: The Silent Outpost doesn't follow the same "Choose Your Path" style as The Morrigan's Veil. We are still experimenting with the format of these short adventures and they will likely evolve with time and feedback.
While on the subject of feedback, please do let us know your thoughts. And be honest. Don't worry we won't cry!
But do you know what will make us cry?
Onions & Wagons
This slice of wacky awesomeness launched a couple of hours ago. The party guard a caravan transporting onions to an unknown destination all the while not realizing that they are the main ingredient in the upcoming dish...and the wagons they guard are kindling for the fires that will cook them.
Unless they manage to outsmart the Onion Lord that is...Yes...We even created a monster called an Onion Lord.
Because that's how a Penny Dragon do. You can check it out HERE.
We've just sent out the Smoke Test for this project. Yay! Your copies of Fomorian Invasion: The Silent Outpost will be with you tomorrow evening, the adventure is currently in layout and will go through a second round of proof reading tomorrow prior to fulfilment.
Inspired by Kinbane Castle
I thought it would be fun to share our inspiration for this particular adventure.
As many of you know, we live on the North Coast of Ireland and if you've visited this little island you'll know what I mean when I say that it is pretty hard not to take inspiration from the rugged coastline and rolling hills. One of our favourite spots to visit are the ruins of Kinbane Castle.
With 140 rather steep steps to walk down (feels like 1400 steps on the way back up haha) it is worth the trek and a true hidden gem.
Kinbane Castle
As for the history, Kinbane Castle's construction was initiated in the mid 1500s under the direction of the MacDonnell clan. Designed as a fortified tower house, its purpose was to safeguard those within from maritime assaults by pirates or competing clans. The castle's location was carefully chosen for its vantage point over the Antrim coast's precipitous cliffs, allowing for an unobstructed observation of approaching vessels.
During the 17th century, Kinbane Castle saw action during the Irish Rebellion of 1641. The castle was attacked and later burned by the rebels before being rebuilt by the Clan MacDonnell. The castle played a significant role in the rebellion, and it was a symbol of the power and strength of the MacDonnell clan.
I'd love to know if you've visited Northern Ireland, have you been to the ruins of Kinbane Castle?
One More Thing
We've snuck in an extra special campaign on Backerkit this month - Onions & Wagons.
An adventure created in celebration of 50 years of DnD!
And it launches TOMORROW.
Onions & Wagons
And yes, it is as wacky as the title suggests.
An early version of this adventure is being played at Gary Con next week and we are super excited to bring the updated version to life, with maps, monster art and some added extras.
If you'd like to give this wild & wacky campaign a follow you can find it HERE.
Fomorian Invasion: The Silent Outpost fully funded so quickly - THANK YOU!
This campaign will run until Sunday 10th March and fulfilled just a few days after that...so it isn't exactly a long one. But you likely already know that we like to keep these $1 campaigns short so we can get the stuff to you sooner rather than later.
Speaking of which, this one is already in layout, but we do need some art and you funding helps immensely with that.
Also, those of you who got The Morrigan's Veil might have noticed that we tried something a bit different and we've had a ton of great feedback on it so far. Basically, since these are PDF only campaigns we can design the PDF to be more functional for GMs. So, we have a rolling contents table in the margin of every page AND we have buttons in the body of the adventure that links to important reference points.
This way, you don't have to go looking for a page, monster, or NPC because a single tap or click will bring you there and another tap/click will bring you straight back to where you were.
We're all about making life as easy as possible for players and GMs alike because that frees us up to have more fun!
So, look out for similar developments in coming campaigns.
What about you? Have you seen that functionality in The Morrigan's Veils or Tomb of the Undead King yet?
If so, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Thank you again for your support. It truly means the world to us!
