Apologies for the delay on uploading the character sheets. I uploaded them this morning and sent out notifications. I hope you are all enjoying your copies of Tomb of the Undead King. We've had some great feedback from a few people and we always love to hear your thoughts on our adventures.
Gizcog's Wandering Emporium Update
This one is still in layout and will likely be fulfilled this time next week. It has been a fun one to work on. Gizcog and Krispy are two rather beloved characters in Penny Dragon land. Krispy is actually inspired by a stuffed toy that has been with me for a very long time and was dubbed the rather unfortunate name of Krispy Bacon. Pausing Unlock the Vault
This month's campaign for the Unlock the Vault series has been replaced with an extra special campaign - Onions & Wagons!
An adventure celebrating 50 Years of DnD!
Onions & Wagons
If you'd like to check out this slice of madness you can do so HERE.
An early version of this adventure is being played at Gary Con XVI next week and we are super excited to bring the updated version to life, with original art, maps, monster some added extras.
Tomb of the Undead King has left the Penny Dragon building. As you know, this is the first key in the Unlock the Vault series and took us a little longer to perfect. Thank you all for your patience! We eagerly await your feedback and hope you enjoy this adventure as much as we've enjoyed creating it!
The character sheets will be with you in the next couple of days, too.
The second key in this series is currently in layout and we are just as excited to see the fulfilment of that adventure.
BUT, did you know?
The third instalment of the Unlock the Vault series, Haunting of the Everwood is in its FINAL 2 days on Backerkit!
Great news, friends! Tomb of the Undead King is getting the royal treatment now with some additional artwork as its crowning glory and a final quality assurance check from the High Lorekeeper. It will be in your inboxes by the weekend.
But if you just can’t wait until then, here is a little sample of what’s in store:
Yes, Haunting of the Everwood is the third instalment, but each adventure in the Unlock the Vault series is designed to be self-contained.
That said, if you do want to play them in sequence, the second instalment, Legend of the Silver Colosseum, is available as an Add On to the campaign and the Penny Dragon imps are working furiously to get that one to your inboxes as soon as possible too.
Tomb of the Undead King is in its final round of review. Being the first of the Unlock the Vault series, it has taken some time to get just right. Laying the right foundation for the structure and style of this series helps us to ensure the smooth production of the seven.
We look forward to hearing your feedback on this one.
Here's a glimpse of what's heading your way in the next couple of days.
Tomb Guardian
Gizcog's Wandering Emporium
As you know, this is a book of 100 magic items. If you have a copy of any of our Mag of Holding publications you'll know we love Gizcog and his trusty pig, Krispy. So this one is shaping up to be a lot of fun to create.
We were a little ambitious with our estimated fulfilment date though. As it turns out, reviewing the writing and mechanics for the 100 magic items is no small task. We'd rather do it right than rush it and will be sharing some of the art and items for this while you wait for the full PDF to be completed in a few weeks time.
Here's some artwork, by the talented Liam Hammond, of our dynamic duo on one of their many adventures.

One Dollar One Shots
On our recent campaign Legend of the Silver Colosseum (if you're waiting for an update on this project it is heading your way right after I finish this one :)) we spoke about balancing the considerable amount of work that goes into producing our 20+ page $1 One Shots and the fact that as much as we love doing them, we can't afford to produce projects of this size at that price any longer.
We asked for input from our backers and we had such wonderful feedback from so many of you both on that poll and in our contact mailbox. The thing is, we'd still like to produce something as so many of you said you do enjoy getting something fun for $1.
As an experiment to see whether it is something our community would like, we're launching a bite sized campaign entitled "One Shilling One Shots". Essentially a paired back version of our one shots, something we can still bring to the community for $1.
If you'd like to take a look you can find it HERE.
We look forward to hearing your thoughts and catching you in the next update!
Good morrow, fellow adventurers…or “top of the mornin’ to ya,” as they (definitely don’t) say from whence I hail.
First and foremost, thank you for your enduring patience as we craft this exciting first instalment in the Unlock the Vault series. The good news is that the writing has been submitted to the editing team (me…I am the editing team). The even BETTER news is that I am working to polish it to absolute perfection before I let our graphic design team (Petero himself) turn it into a beautiful masterpiece.
Of course, as you well know, polishing any adventure takes time and commitment, but this, being the adventure to launch all adventures needs a particularly keen eye. That said, we know you, our loyal supporters, will appreciate that this one shot will be worth its wait in gold (see what I did there…).
The writer/game designer/CEO (yes, he wears many hats) tried to sneak a little more content into the one shot than we promised you, so here is a taste of what the adventure holds, which may or may not make it to the final cut but will 100% feature somewhere someday in something we publish... Hope you enjoy it!
Fall of Eldoranthir
In elven days of yore, there thrived a lady fair and bright,
Eldoranthir in splendor danced, her face bathed in golden light.
Her slender form a blooming rose, red rocks beneath her feet,
A lady of the mountains high, where tree and sky doth meet.
Oh, Eldoranthir, so fair and fine, in sunset's warm embrace,
You danced upon your golden throne, fire danced upon your face.
Red runs the river, oh, red rivulets of life,
For his folly fell upon your heart, a dark and deadly knife.
Threads of silver magic once wove a shield so strong,
They say the well within your heart, now sings a mournful song.
A mad god sought to claim you, left you as a desert dry,
The people from the east, they came, refused to let you die.
Oh, Eldoranthir, so fair and fine, in sunset's warm embrace,
You danced upon your golden throne, a vision pure of grace.
Red runs the river, oh, the river of your life,
King’s folly fell upon your heart, a dark and deadly knife.
Your cloak draped blood-red hills, and warmed valleys oh so green,
In the wings darkness hid, in the halls of time unseen.
War raged on, the dragons came, your streets they filled with screams,
Your bones among the rolling hills, not more than haunted dreams.
Oh, Eldoranthir, so fair and fine, in sunset's warm embrace,
You danced upon your golden throne, a vision pure of grace.
Red runs the river, oh, the river of your life,
King’s folly fell upon your heart, a dark and deadly knife.
Oh, Wellsing, trapped in dark undeath, the Crescent Mountains weep,
For man knows not the way of gods and sows what he doth reap.
Mayhaps they’ll one day find you, mayhaps they’ll heal your scars.
May they break your curse, and brush your hair, may you dance among the stars.
