Project Update: PDF v0.9 is out!
Hey folks, Eryk here.
You should soon receive an email with a download link to version 0.9 of Johnson Squared! This is aaaaaaalmost print-ready - we've just got the map outstanding and need to do a round of proof-reading, but otherwise everything else you're seeing is as it will be in print. Because of reasons outlined below, this is also the "inlay" pages only, ie. it's only the interior. We're still not fully sure what shape the covers will take, so a few reference tables are missing as they'll live on the interior and outside covers.
We're chatting to our printer, Standart Impressa, about next steps. We're actually at a slightly higher pagecount than planned (72) which puts us in a funny position of being too big for staples. I decided to go for an exposed spine binding which would lean into Johnson's corporate aesthetic, but our printer is now investigating whether we're actually not thick enough for that kind of binding. We'll keep you in the loop on this! The exposed spine would mean we could get a nice blue thread binding to match the colour profile of the rest of the book which would be pretty dope.
If you wanna chat/compare Johnsons, feel free to join the Peregrine Coast Press discord over at: https://discord.gg/MWQnADXV
Surveys will be going out this week, though we've elected to charge for shipping later. The recent tariff news from the US are worrying, but from what I know, should leave us mooooostly unaffected. Though for now, who knows what the US government will do.
Have a great week,
Eryk
