It is a day like any other in HUDSON CITY: a bustling metropolis where the rich and famous flaunt their latest supertech gadgets, and the city's powered protectors, the CAPES, keep a vigilant eye out for any threats posed by the villainous MASKS. SIGMA races against time with her precognition to prevent disasters. IRON WILL’s metal skin and impenetrable mind deliver justice where it’s needed most. NIGHTINGALE heals physical wounds but knows emotional scars are harder to mend. The telepath ANSIBLE chooses silence despite hearing everyone’s thoughts, while the telekinetic THRESHOLD runs from a crime he didn’t commit. Meanwhile, REGENT, the, genius ruler of the autocratic nation of Korovia, seeks to dominate the city to silence his own insecurities.

In the midst of it all stands SIMON RAND, the city's mightiest hero, better known as PRAETORIAN. After 75 years of saving the world, Praetorian is haunted, angry, and resentful — especially towards the very people he protects. This simmering rage comes to a head when he faces off against a mad scientist wielding a quantum doomsday device. On this day like any other, PRAETORIAN does the unthinkable: he dares the villain to pull the trigger.

Drawing from his lifelong love of all things superheroics, as well as his own experiences with grief, Bill Coffin’s OMEGA REIGN is not another deconstruction of the superhero genre, but an earnest and clear-eyed vision of a vibrant world where those who soar above are just as human as all of us. 

By day, Bill Coffin is a mild-mannered, award-winning business journalist. By night, he is a speculative fiction writer who lives in a secret base in New Jersey with his wife and family, where he reads tons of books, plays games of all sorts, and hosts the non-toxic geek podcast Moments of Truth (www.momentsoftruth.show). OMEGA REIGN is a superhero story.

I’ve always loved superheroes, and I shared that love with my brother Tom. He and I were inseparable. We built our first comic collection together and did what comics kids do, endlessly debate the merits of different runs: Would there ever be a funnier panel than Batman punching out Guy Gardner in Keith Giffen’s Justice League #5? How would Secret Wars have changed if ROM hadn't been cut? Was John Byrne’s Fantastic Four was better than his Superman? (The answer is Uncanny X-Men). You know, all-important stuff. 

 

When Tom died by suicide, my world fell apart. I questioned everything — my beliefs, my strength, and what to do next. No super abilities or secret identity could protect me from this grief, but the stories Tom and I adored are more valuable than simple power fantasy. They are more than adventure serials with goofy outfits and silly names. They’re sweeping epics with well-crafted, deeply complex characters and emotionally resonant stories, blending action with themes of identity, prejudice, and empowerment. Turns out, I’d been learning what to do next since childhood. 

This understanding became the heart of OMEGA REIGN. It’s about what happens when people face battles they can’t win and how they cope when there is no all-new issue no.1, no retcon or alternate reality. It’s about growing up and facing moral complexities and difficult questions, but it’s also about life’s big adventures, hope for tomorrow and the silly, imaginative fun that we can all share.

OMEGA REIGN is a superhero story I like. I hope you like it, too.

OMEGA REIGN will be offered in three distinct editions.

For the first time, we are not offering a Retailer Tier, as we are preparing to launch our books into wider distribution in 2025. This will allow retailers to order directly through their distributors, streamlining the process of getting our books into their hands. However, if a retailer wishes to support the campaign, we wholeheartedly encourage it! With proof of shop ownership, we will offer a 50% credit on their pledge, allowing them to acquire extra books to preview in their shop.

This beautifully crafted coin features a striking antique gold finish and is individually numbered from 001 to 100, ensuring its exclusivity. Long before RAID PRESS was founded, our collective of creators began as R.A.I.D., the ROYAL ACADEMY of ILLUSTRATION & DESIGN back in 2002, with four young creators looking to band together. This campaign runs from September 5th to September 26th. Once it concludes, backers will receive access to the pledge manager, allowing them to make any additional purchases to their tier.

Pledge manager invitations and surveys will be sent out as soon as possible. The pledge manager will remain open for one week, after which orders will be locked, and any outstanding balance (e.g., shipping) will be charged. At that point, orders will be finalized for packing and fulfillment.
