It’s Complicated is a third-party supplement for Draw Steel that gives your hero one-hundred complication options at character creation!
A complication is a little extra spice you can add to your character that makes them unique! This project aims to deliver the wildest and weirdest options for your characters! Expect the sci-fi vibes of growing extra limbs, and the stressors of belonging to a secret society!
Examples of these complications are having sticky tentacle arms, growing three extra heads you can change out whenever you rest (or crit), and being made of a mysterious goop coveted by greedy mages!
In short, this product will make your already really cool hero even cooler! Or at least messier!

We aim to get one piece of art for every spread of the book. These will be character pieces to give a face to the complications. We want this art to inspire you to build wildly different heroes and make these complications irresistible.
Design
While Cameron will be designing the lion’s share of the complications, many other third-party Draw Steel designers will be paid to submit their own complications.
We’re looking to fund twenty-five complications from these designers. None of the funds will go to internal design work.
Layout
The amazing Nicole Pahl will be working on the layout for the PDF. You might have seen her work in the Huckleberry RPG, and Heart of Arcana's To Defy the Stars and the upcoming Cave of Amber Tears adventures.

Playtesting
We’re looking to send the final document through two rounds of external testing to work out the kinks and dial in numbers.
There are already a few folks on our shortlist for this process!
For this first pledge tier, you get the PDF and playtest materials whenever they’re done! (expected sometime in May 2026)
Super Complicated Hero
At this pledge, you get everything at the $20 level, and a special credit in the book to show off to your friends.
Epic Complicated Hero
At the highest pledge level, you get everything in the other pledges, you ensure a community copy of the PDF gets to someone else who wants it, and you'll get pre-generated character sheets for each core class of the game complete with a complication from the book!
