I know this project has been slow but figured I should at least update you on what the backend looks like. I also don't think I have 193 backers but the send and remind thi...
I will slowly be going through people who have Toby orders and making a shopify order for you. If you need to update your address, please let me know or I think you can edit it still on the project.
Toby finishes up on July 8th, should arrive to me August. I usually charge shipping and set everything aside in advance so I am in that stage now between events this month.
He has a very special tag either way so I'm pretty excited! There are 17 of you who ordered him so if you don't get a shopify order made but think you should have, please reach out. Sometimes I miss things when I'm messing with segments.
I made some changes to Toby's tag for this project compared to my other plush.
This was the original tag. Instead of having two tags like I had planned early on (one with information and one with my normal product stuff), I wanted it to open. Think like Squishable or Ty, where their tags open and have fun stuff inside.
So my husband, out of the blue, suggested I make Toby's tag holographic. I spent the last day or so working with my manufacturer to sort of see what tag options I could find.
I wanted gold or holo around Toby's head. We both messaged other manufacturers and places but I guess they managed to find someone last night so we're golden (literally haha). They won't be doing a sample so fingers crossed this turns out as I want it to.
Side note that while being told before we could include the non-profit information, I guess maybe that wasn't correct or they didn't understand what was going on with this project, so it won't be on the tags. I did email them about it after I was told we can't sell these for profit if we include their info on there (let's be real I'm barely breaking even every year lol), but I do know non-profits have a lot of rules and such they need to follow. They never got back to me so I just proceeded with the tags without the information since they need these ready to go. Not upset in any way (non-profits really do have an insane amount of rules to follow not to break the law from what I looked up), just letting everyone know that the plans for this did end up changing.
That being said, I still want Upright Canine Brigade to be in people's minds since this isn't a corgi exclusive condition.
So Toby is finishing up production and at that point I guess it's up in the air? I think everything has been slower to arrive to me (pins and the last plush) just because of customs.
Voluntold Chip to model with the Toby plush for the website, so sharing the pic.
Bonus photo of me sneaking Toby into a store and pretending he's a professional plush on the shelf to buy! Maybe one day. :D
I paid for production now that I have seen the updated sample (it was waiting on the Kitsune but I am still working on it). So this sample was sent alone and production started. My project cost so far has been $12,562. I didn't raise that much but I am working on it. <3 I expect the Kitsune plush will cost more than $7,000 to produce so fingers crossed my July con sales go well. Shipping tends to cost over half of what the plush costs to make for some reason. = p
I will be adding these on site for preorder for anyone who missed out on them. I don't know if I will be hit with tariffs on these, sea shipping will be slow since it takes about 2 months to produce anyways.
I think that's everything. Sorry I didn't start these sooner. I really should have just had them send me the sample instead of waiting forever to send the Kitsune and this one together. It really slowed everything down.
Since tariffs are easing up some, I am just gonna start producing these one by one I guess. I asked for the final version of Toby to just be sent to me for now so I can inspect and approve it.
I also want to say thank you to everyone who has been keeping me informed about their packages.
Once they are in the hands of the post office, there isn't much I can do but I try.
Anyways, gotta prep for Momocon and figured I would let you guys know what I am doing. I won't get to skip tariffs going forward. I may restart the Kitsune sample because I am just not liking how it looks so I will post updates on that later when I am back. It's not going how I wanted or expected. It happens which is why samples before a project tend to be ideal since sampling slows a project down substantially.
I will get Toby preorders up (for anyone who missed him) after Momocon so you can still preorder on my site, but I don't want to list him before I see the revised sample and pay for production. Thank you for your patience!
