There a ton of followers on this project who are on the fence! The world is currently (and perpetually) on fire, so we get it. Ergo, here's some stuff to just ...
-All Books are fully written and done through Copy Edits. All we are waiting on is cover art to be finalized so then Layout and Typeset can be polished off!
-DiAmorte is polishing off the mix and master on the Black Ballad Metal Album! Their ETA to finish is the end of the month. According to Drake - this is one of the most complex mix and masters they've ever done given the Choir, Orchestra, Band, Lyrics, and all the elements. I've heard some sneak peaks and the new vocals really friggin' fit the vibe.
-Cover Progress! Mortal Coils and Memory Thief are nearing the ends of their drafts, and To Slay A God will soon follow. (Duskwalker is already finished!)
-Pledge Manager for final orders will be run as soon as cover art is finished, so we can ship once books are done with layout! Unlike TTRPG's, typeset and layout will not take as long.
But here is some current cover art progress for Memory Thief!

This time, The Eldritch Author and I co-wrote a full TTRPG book that is a healthy blend of new player options, setting, and adventure. Based on the results of the poll for the Black Ballad: Players Handbook and Novels were the two highest picks!

Art is what makes for some good snazzy updates to provide that sweet visual eye candy. The books are what you spend a month reading letting your imagination wander into the lands of the dead.
So for this update, I'm going to showcase what...Author C.D. Corrigan (and also...artist!) has done for Chris Durstons novel Mortal Coils.
BUT ALSO! THE BLACK BALLAD IS UP FOR AWARDS AND WE NEED YOUR VOTE!
We are nominated for: Best Setting 2024. Best Supplement 2024. AND Best Art 2024 through the No Dice Unrolled awards ceremony.
------Now Before I get to the pretty art, here is a reminder that at the end of January, I'm aiming to release pledge surveys and release shipping costs to start filling this. You'll get plenty of updates, so nothing to do right now about it. Just keep it in the back of your brain.---

THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO DO UPDATES!!! Do you know how hard it is to do updates from the underworld? You leave one set of friends in charge of updates and suddenly everyone forgets their basic necromancy spells.
The gall.
ANYWAY! WE DID THE THING! We get to expand the setting of the Black Ballad a little further and keep the lights on. So what happens now?
First: I finally toggled the pre-order store. https://black-ballad-chronicles-of-the-crossing.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders in case you missed the campaign. There is a new option up there: Relict TTRPG Starter Kit and adventure. Everything on there will be available during your pledge surveys when they are released, so it's mostly for the people who missed the campaign entirely!
Book Production: Everything is truly based off this -> Cover art is under way, and once that's finished we are into type set and getting novels listed and sorted. Honestly, we are really far ahead here. We actually started covers during the campaign and all editing is finished. You'll get updates once we have some initial covers locked in, but this one will be an easy crowdfunding to fill later on.
Pledge Managers: I'm going to release them next year, a little closer to when we are ready to start shipping books to eliminate the number of addresses that people need to change and let the 2025 shipping charges get updated.
What's Next? There are other projects that belong firmly within the TTRPG sphere we've been writing and polishing (and getting art for) this entire year. We haven't showcased much yet, but in January we will hit the ground running with teasers and updates for our next major Player Handbook and TTRPG campaign in March.
I will still keep doing updates here as we get cover art, new DiAmorte music to share, and ready for digital distribution, so stick around!

We will continue to bring badass music and fantasy fiction. The world is understandably feeling like a gigantic ball of chaos, but we've still got our obligations as creatives.
To showcase the next book, author C.D. Corrigan and Eldritch Editor Courteney Penney have worked with Brian Fitzpatrick to provide the perfect synopsis for To Slay A God. You can watch that below.
I know our campaign is coming to an end soon, and we will start sharing cover art later on in December. All books are officially through the editing phase and now 100% ready for publication. Next week, during the final campaign push, we will have more substantial updates.
