BackerKit FAQ
How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.
To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.
All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.
Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.
Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.
When will I be charged for my pledge?
Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.
What happens after the campaign is over?
The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.
Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.
Project FAQ
How do I choose my design?
Select the pledge level you want to back at and purchase any desired addons. The designs can be chosen individually post-campaign in the pledge manager.
How are pins graded?
The handmade nature of enamel pins means that there will be some small amount of variance among the pins. Please note that pins are not expected to be perfect, and some small imperfections are not considered to be a defect. A Grade | Standard: These are the pins that backers will receive. They may have small, but relatively unnoticeable imperfections. (ie: the imperfections are not visible at a glance.) Imperfections may include slight underfill, minor scuff or scratch on the metal, plating imperfections on the edges, a spec of dust in a non-central area. B Grade | Seconds: These pins will be set aside and will not be included in backer pledges, or in the blind bags. They will have small, but easier to spot imperfections. These pins will be sold at a discount after the campaign concludes and rewards are delivered. These pins may have underfill, more visible scratches, a spec of dust or small bubble in the enamel, or a small, incorrect color fill that is located in a non-central area. C Grade: These pins have noticeable imperfections/mistakes and will be given away as freebies or sold at a large discount at in-person events, where the buyer can see what they are purchasing.
Can I choose my blind bag contents?
The blind bags are a surprise by their nature, and a specific design cannot be chosen. Blind bags will contain one random unlocked Star Candy Isopod pin design from the “Blind Bag” section and their corresponding sticker in a sealed bag. If you want a specific design, please back for an “enamel pin” and choose the design you like.
Can I purchase the blind bags stickers individually?
The blind bag stickers are exclusive to the blind bags and are not available for individual purchase.
Will I receive duplicates in my blind bags?
If you order multiple blind bags, you should not receive duplicate contents. Blind bag rewards will be picked packed consecutively from the blind bags inventory. While blind bags are picked and packed consecutively, I do not know what is inside each bag. If you order an individual enamel star pin and a blind bags, the potential exists for them to be duplicates of eachother. I can only ensure no-duplicates between the blind bags themselves within the same order. Please note that if you order more blind bags than potential designs available, you will receive duplicates. (Ie: If you order 13 blind bags, but there are only 10 unlocked designs, you will receive 10 blind bags with unique contents, and 3 blind bags with duplicate contents.)
Is the jewelry hypoallergenic?
The earring charms and pendant themselves are made of the same zinc alloy material as the pins, and are not hypoallergenic. The fish hook earrings that go in your ears and Venetian box chain necklaces that go around your neck are made of stainless steel, and should be cadmium, nickel, and lead-free.
Is this project affiliated with Flight Rising?
This is project is not affiliated with Flight Rising. I am currently employed by Stormlight Workshop LLC and work on Flight Rising as an art director, but this is an independent, personal project I created as an illustrator.
