TrashBack Buddies is a collaboration with Slumberyote featuring trash-lovin' animals such as raccoons, pigeons, possums, rats, coyotes, and more, all in a cute backpack form!
Slumberyote and I are excited to introduce you to our project, TrashBack Buddies! A series of plushie backpacks featuring your favorite trashy animals!
Slumber had a vision and worked with me on turning it into reality, it was a lot of trial and error (soooo many samples oh my God), but we came a long way from concept sketches to the real deal!
This campaign will start with one of my favorite animals, the Possum! This bag is 16 inches from top of head to booty, and the mouth is the backpack, featuring a cute tongue zipper that's super sturdy! The bag part is in the mouth and can fit a nintendo switch and a bottle of water plus a few other things!
Our sample has a white inside for the mouth and belly, but the final production will feature light pink fabric! The plushie is a mixture of rabbit fur (the style of fabric, not actual rabbit!), minky, and faux long fur, with embroidered accents. Our sample is missing toe lines which will be added to the bulk order.
The plushie comes with a removable harness in case you don't want to have it as a backpack!

The inside back can comfortably fit a nintendo switch and a bottle of water (I don't have a switch 2 to test)
HOW DOES BACKERKIT WORK? With Backerkit, you aren't charged until the campaign is over and only if the funding goal is met! You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your pledge at any time before the campaign ends!
After the campaign ends, surveys will be sent out to collect addresses and calculate shipping costs! Shipping costs will be charged seperately, just before we start fulffilling the orders.
I fell in LOVE with this design and worked with Slumber to make it real, but of course its hard to make sketches into reality. We had to do a lot of changes and the first sample was a huge disappointment--but we didn't let it get us down!
A face only a mother could love
Instead of rushing we took the time to go through different manufacturers, working with each of them and sampling until we found one that could adhere as close to the sketch as possible, with a few adjustments.
Our next sample came out so much better, and finally what you see today is what we have now!
We got enough interest to open up customs, these will be limited spots so that we don't overload our manufacturer!
You can now get a custom bag of your sona or a different species that isn't available! Please note when submitting sonas if they are too complex we will work with you on simplifying the design. If your design is too complex for our manufacturer and you do not want it simplified, you will be given a refund, minus art fees if Slumber has already designed the bag.
This option is available here, keep in mind designing the bag may take a month or more, due to them working on the bulk order and other custom designs.
